Hey, I'm doing my 3rd honour mode run. The 2 previous ones stopped near the end of act 1. The first one due to a crash from a mod and the second due to RL intervening, and when I got time again for BG3, thought it would be better to start anew than try to remember what I had already done and not done.
But all Three attempts got past the owlbears and got on to the goblin camp and further, but I can't find a way to get the owlbearcub come to my camp.

In other difficulty modes, the cub starts to eat its mother when she's defeated, and if you let it live and free it from the goblins, it comes to your camp.
But in my honour mode runs, it keeps fighting even after the 2 big bears are dead. I knocked it unconscious, hoping that would make it join me later. But that didn't work either. So I'm wondering what the trick is to get it to join.

If you flee combat and the goblin camp remains neutral, he should be there for chicken chasin' after a long rest at the Blighted Village. I've done this for few runs and he's always shown up for me.

Hope that helps.

when Larian added honour mode to this quest they didn't bother play testing their code changes
yes the current hack is to just ignore the cub and run away... as long as the humans don't kill it then things work out

Luke Skywalker: I don't, I don't believe it.
Yoda: That is why you failed.

Meanwhile I cleared the surface of act 1 . The knocked-out cub is gone from the cave, but never reappeared anywhere eles, so I guess it is "lost" for the rest of the game.

I'm not sure it's a bug, maybe just another little honor mode +diff, that you have to flee the cub. Supporting this is that it's designed to work, the cub seems to break off pursuit at the little stream, just far enough back you de-aggro just before the entrance.

Also, "knock out" is across the map as far as whether it works logically or not. I think it's a consciousness-soothing alternative to murder hobo, and so is functionally death in most cases as far as questlines go, though there are a few notable exceptions where the person offscreen wakes up and appears later.

See also Batman "who doesn't kill", bad guys in GI Joe who always are shown to parachute out of their shot down aircraft, and the like.

Fun Fact: If you're able to kill the Owlbear mother before she has a chance to summon papa bear, then the scene where the cub stops being aggressive and goes and starts eating mama bear still plays on Honor Mode

Of course, this is easier said than done, especially since you can't rely on Hold Person due to the whole "People are far easier to manipulate than animals" thing D&D has (Hold Person only works on people and is a 2nd level spell... While Hold Monster which works on animals and monsters is a 5th level spell)

So you'd have to rely on things like Prone or Stun and one-round kill setups (I.e. A full party of Tavern Brawler abusing Fighters with Speed Potions and Action Surges) to prevent her automated interrupt action of calling for papa once reaching a specific health threshold.

One thing I haven't tested though is Silence. Theoretically Silence should prevent papa bear from hearing the call... But who knows if Larian coded for that...

Edit: I just did an Honour Mode Owlbear kill and Silence did seem to prevent mama bear from calling papa bear and thus enabled the end-of-fight trigger with the cub. Whether this is consistent, I can't say (Having just done this once, the sample sizes are a smidge on the low side)

Of course, this method does bypass the whole "Honour Mode Unique Encounters" thing by eschewing the papa bear entirely... But it's not like he does anything notable (No cool loot, no special moves. Just here's a second owlbear and like 70xp for killing him)
