I took the Test of Knowledge in the Academy but I never got options to respond to the teleporter questions. After I took the other tests, the "knowledge" instructor at the evaluation session said I failed. I'm guessing this is part of the game plot, right?

http://www.kiya1.de/beyond/act4maps/Act4knowmap.pngNope, if you fail, you did something wrong. Please, look at the link and tell me, if it explains properly, please. Kiya Your "answer" is by hopping on the correct teleporters. And the answers are given in the Code of Behaviour => numbers on the teleporter correspond to the correct answer. Edit, forgot: You lose a reward (permanent intelligence potion), but you have to carry on the same way, regardless if you have failled or passed all tests. Group XP for all passed tests: 109824 XP for failed: 35904

Doh! I kept trying to get options to choose from in my dialogue/response box. So it doesn't matter what order I touch the teleporters to get the questions, it just matters that I pick the right teleporter "response", right?
That said, I hope I can get through the Academy section having failed the knowledge test b/c I'm well into BF1 in Act IV to go back and re-do everything.
If not, please let me know, and (sigh) I guess I have no choice but to go back to a previous save. Thanks, CK

It does matter how you answer <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> number 3 in the 1st tel. room (3 tests) number 13 in the 2nd room (13 hours) number 5 in the 3rd (5 prayers) number 16 in the 4th (16 rules)
these are the answers the instructor will acknowledge as passed. The Raanaar numbers on the teleporters are the same numbers, you can see on the code of Behaviour, so they have a meaning. Did I misunderstand you now? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />
But you can carry on - you just missed a reward and XP. Please, read my edit, I have a very bad habit of editing my posts.
You see, the entrance to the upper level is blocked via game plot. So, even if you pass all tests, you have to find the other way to get up. Kiya

Thanks again Kiya! CK

Whew, you saw my error, right? I had written 10984 instead if 109824. Yes, it is a difference, but I can't evaluate, how high that value is, regarding how high the char is. Kiya

Yeah, I kinda figured you meant 100+K instead of 10+K.
One thing though -- and not to seem obtuse -- but I'm confused as to the progression. So, when taking the test, you "touch" the teleporter and it gives you the question. Then, you touch and use the correct teleporter for the answer, right? In so doing, it teleports you to the next set of teleporters for your next question (and response)?

1. In entering the room, you trigger the question. Try it: go into the room, do NOT answer, but use the cross to exit conversation. then go a few steps back - then go forward again, see? Approaching triggers.
2. You "answer" by touching the correct teleporter.
3. You get teleported into the 2nd room, regardless which teleporter option you choose. Same for the other rooms. But your choice determines if you pass or fail.
And the symbols on the pads are the Raanaar number symbols from the starting room, remember the Code on the wall? The rules? They have the same symbols. Only number 13 is not on the wall. why? Because the wall crumbled EXACTLY there, burying the number 13.
Larians are cruel, hm? I loved that trap!

Okay, you've convinced me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> I'm going back to a previous save. It aggravates me I didn't get this right the first time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" /> Thanks, CK

Who said, I did it right the very first time? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" /> I failed... the same as you, cause I didn't understand the 13-trap the first time.

chaos another trick with the tests is to not over-think them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" /> example - coincidentally, the third question (#5) is actually the 5th rule-tile of the 16...so like an idiot, my first time through i actually looked for the 'rule' number (13 hours is actually rule-tile 10), not just the number in question. doh!

LOL! I think <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> my problem was that I didn't realize you "prompted" the questions by going close to the teleporters, as opposed to touching them. I kept activating the teleps. and ending up in the following room, throwing the sequence off.
I went back to an earlier save and copped the full XP value. Thanks all! CK
