If it isn't enough that to play BG3 we have to launch Steam (if it isn't already), then launch the launcher, then launch the game and wait...and then be met with "Press any key to continue." WHY?!? What is the point of this screen? Just to force everyone to see the nice picture (which is admittedly beautiful, but still)? This serves no purpose other than to further delay things and require yet one more click. There is no option other than to click it, so what is the wait for? Please stop this silliness.

the last one loads all the background files into memory before starting the game... as for Steam, well thats mostly to track you

Luke Skywalker: I don't, I don't believe it.

You can start the game without Steam - simply find the BG3 folder on the HDD. There you will find two BG3 ".exe" files, separately for Vulcan and DirectX. Place cursor and hit enter/click on the one you prefer.

As to "press any key" - yes, irritating. There is a mod changing that, teasingly called "No Press Any Key Menu". You boot into the Main Menu.

You can also launch LariLaucher.exe directly. But I don't think there's a way around the Press Any Key menu without a mod. As a weekend player, I often lingered in Baldur's shadow on a Saturday while getting coffee and then properly launched the game, trying to get into the loading screen before the Bhaalist choir's cue.

In Windows, it's by default under
..\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Launcher
or
..\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin
respectively.
