If people at Larian do read these posts in the suggestions part of the forum, let me preface this with: BG3 has been a breath of fresh air in the gaming community. At full price, it was one of the cheaper games I bought that year, yet it provided me with countless hours of fun and emotional stories. Free patches adding new content and functions due to popular demand were appreciated, and why I decided to make this post.

Wyll is one of the origin companions, yet still post patch 8 he lacks content compared to other companions. And I would like to point out, this has nothing to do with requesting an overhaul to his entire story arc or changing his character to be "less boring" - what is done is done, and he is a great good character. Rather, I would like to see some minor things added, enriching his storyline.

For other companions, particularly Astarion and Gale, there are multiple nights at camp when new dialogue or even small cutscenes get unlocked. For example - a big part of Act I is dealing with the As resident monster hunter, we could get some new dialogue similar to Karlach's

Also, another thing to do with Wyll and his monster hunter status I understand the more interesting conversations centered around him and who he is would need to be added in later acts, once he is free to speak about
This is the type of things Wyll's fans would love to see added into the game. Just some more reactivity to the world around him and more dialogue. I think that it is a fair request considering Astarion's fans suggestions have been implemented time and time again, once even to the detriment of his storyline.

At the very least, if there is a genuine reason why this cannot be done, I would love Larian to talk to the community instead of ignoring the requests. Maybe it's money? Maybe it's Theo's availability? But in that case, PLEASE just tell us.

Wyll lacks content because he was completely changed in EA because people didn't like him (although I suspect it was because Larian scrapped the additional origins they planned, noticed that they have not enough good companions and decided to rebuild Wyll) and Larian gave him the bare minimum of content.

Larian also made it clear that they are done with BG3 and photo mode and additional kisses was obviously more important than story improvements or adding missing things like dragonborn guardians or letting you design mercenaries instead of relying in fixed characters.

Yeah,sadly, we won't get more Wyll content. I rested my case when it was clear, patch 8 wouldn't have story content for companions.

I do get that there is an explanation as to why Wyll has less content than the rest of the companions. What I still cannot wrap my head around is why adding more is apparently impossible.

And I also know Larian said no more patches with more content after patch 8... But I also have seen them listening to the community before, if the community was persistent enough.

I took Wyll around this playthrough and while I actually don't mind him being "boring" I just wish there was more content to do with him. Small things, to make him more alive and bring him in line with rest of the companions.

It certainly was possible, but Larian didn't want to spend time on Wyll.

Lets face it, the only part of the community Larian listens to is the fanfiction writer and shipping fandom. And those prefer Astarion over Wyll.
Hence instead of game and story improvements or a rework of the worst and most annoying mechanics we got kisses, a photo mode to record those kisses, easy Minthara shipping and sexbear Halsin instead of a single short or "ugly" companion.

And now its legally impossible for Larian to change their minds. They dropped BG3 like a hot stone and ran.
Any changes must now come from WotC and they would first need to find a developer to make changes. So it won't happen.

He's at least allowed to read in camp now, I think that's new.

Still, him being granted some autonomy during the dock scene if the player character is absent would be nice.

I have never seen Wyll been described as ugly either. He is pretty hot, imo.

Nobody, that I know of. Ixal's comment was that we don't have a short or "ugly" (I read that as "not conventionally attractive") companion because the game mostly caters to the appetites of horny players.

The lack of short race companions is a pet peeve of mine as you all probably know by now and yes, all the romance stuff is not really something, that interests me, but there might be different reasons that Wyll and Karlach didn't get more content. It's sad and if they ever want to go back to the game, I hope, they focus more on the companions, that didn't get much in the last patches. But I don't think, that will happen sadly

I would have loved a bit more for Wyll, but he does seem to be the least popular of the origin characters so I guess they figured it wasn't worth it. By numbers I'd assume Minthara gets used the least just because you really have to work to get her, but the Wyll haters are really vocal. Over on Facebook I'm always seeing "everyone hates Wyll" posts with the attitude that nobody would ever have him in the party.

I had really hoped that he and Gale would at least both get one new camp animation that is a little bit extra. The camp has become so lively but the two of them are pretty much stuck with their open world idles and shared animations - and in Wyll's case his goblet.

You think ugly characters would stop people from being horny about them? Nah. They would pretend they're actually hot and screech at anyone who calls them ugly.
