I decided to finally experiment with the "have your cake and eat it too" approach to having the psychotic murderess on my team. As I was not sure if I had toggled lethal strikes off or not, I took away Team BBW's weapons. Hence Lae'zel and Karlach were pounding the New!Girl! with their fists as part of intiation hazing rituals. All was going well until The Drow hit back, then Lae'zel used her Batlemistress Riposte Reaction and ... killed her dead!111

I think even if you took away their weapons, it's still count as killing her when you didn't toggled off lethal strikes. You need to make sure that non-lethal attacks are toggled on and use melee weapon or unarmed attack. If you indeed killed her then you didn't have toggled on non-lethal attacks. It's also good to turn off any reactions when you need to be sure.

You can check if you have toggled off lethal attacks by looking at the party's portraits on the left side. If lethal attacks are off, there's a little grey icon saying so. Hovering the mouse over the icons tells you what they mean. (Assuming you're on PC) If none of the icons shows the non-lethal tooltip, you have to go back to passives of any character and push the toggle. Then you should see the icon appear next to every character's portrait.

Can't say how it works on consoles though.

I did NOT turn on the non-lethal attacks ...
As during my 24 months with EA and Release I had never used non-lethal damage before, I failed to notice that besides the swirling icon in the Hotbar there is is an ICON next to the Portraits telling me about it ...

Testing revealed something amusing, though. If you don't have a weapon and you have non-lethal attacks turned ON, you deal Blugedoning damage with Unarmed Attack and Slashing damage with the Riposte's Superiority Dice.
