Good day! I had purchased Baldur's Gate 3 in EA through Steam, but time progressed, the game evolved, and my PC no longer meets the system requirements that are needed today. At some point, I'll get a new PC, but priorities are such that this will be pretty far down the road. I'm wondering if Steam consumers might have the ability do rollbacks. It remains mostly playable, but I've become unable to loot a number of items. I haven't ventured too deeply in, as I expect that I'll find more problems ahead. I've read a guide at the Steam forums that claimed it was possible to do this, but I've been unable to manage this. If it *isn't* going to be possible to rollback to the point that my system did meet the requirements, I'll just put this off until I can upgrade. If it will be something that I can do easily, though, I'd like to hear how it might be possible. Thank you for any feedback and suggestions.

How far back would you need to go? I'm not on Steam (I use GOG), but when patch 7 and patch 8 came out they said there would be a beta version on Steam locked to the previous patch. I don't know how long they were keeping them there, but try having a look at any beta options and see if that helps

I'm not sure, really. I know that I met the requirements and that it worked (in my limited experience) very early in EA. I'm unsure when exactly all of the changes were made. Then, too, they've made some performance improvements in more recent patches. At one point, when I first noticed that they had changed the requirements, it was really unplayable. I don't meet the current requirements, but, outside of the looting issue, it seems to play reasonably well now. I've been afraid to go very far in, as I expect that I'd encounter more problems. I was rather hoping that older patch versions might be available here, so that I could test a few of them.

KiraMira posted a link how you can retrieve old versions on Steam. I wouldn't call it "easy" though.

In the "Beta"s" option patch 6 is still visible in the dropdown, so you might try this one first. That's easy, jusyt select that branch and the game reinstalls itself.

Hmm, if it was worse a while ago but slightly better now, I suspect rolling back to patch 6 won't help much. That method to manually install older versions might help. If you knew when the requirements were changed that might help narrow down the patch, but I could imagine it was right at full release.

What about game streaming services? I don't know much about them, or which ones would let you play BG3, but if you want to play it and it doesn't work well on your PC, that might be a way round. However, you'd then be paying a monthly fee instead of buying a one-off upgrade. Up to you, of course

A friend used Geforce Now and sometimes played BG3 on his tablet. Patch 6 ran pretty smoothly on my no-frills office pc most of the time.
