I read that you need somehow to clear your cache in some particular files to
get the alchemist to speak and the enemies to fight again, but I don't know how
to do it. Could someone give me some easy step by step instuctions?

To delete the files in the dynamic folders, browse to the folders in Windows Explorer and delete the files in them, but not the folders themselves.
'..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act1\Dynamic', '..\Beyond Divinity\Acts\Act2\Dynamic', etc.
These folders are used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied to those folders when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Beyond Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in those folders, deleting the files should fix the problem.

If the alchemist is still stubborn after that there is probably a workaround to get him talking, but I'm not sure about the passive enemies (the patch fixed one cause of that, anyway).

Thanks for the information. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I patched the game before I ever started it with the 1.45 version so I'm not sure why I'm having these problems. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

I cleared the info from the Act 2 folder, but the Alchemist still isn't talking.
Do I need to do it from Act 1 as well? BTW, the enemies are fighting now.
Any workarounds for this you can share? Otherwise, I'm out of commission because I've done every quest except for this one. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />

In a previous version there was a bug with finding the cure ingredients and moving them in your inventory before talking to the alchemist. That would trigger a quest log update prematurely, and prevent the cut scene at the rock covering the mushroom cave. The workaround for that problem may get the alchemist talking to you;

[*] Complete all other quests and save the game.
[*] If you have a save before finding the alchemist's ingredients and moving them, copy the 2 story.* files from that save into your latest save, otherwise you can use these files from a save at the beginning of the imp village.
[*] Talk to Altoflix in the north of the village (if required), then the chieftain's son to get the quest to find the alchemist, talk to the alchemist once (only) and head to the cave.
[*] Continue with the game.
