Spoilers inside.

I'm sort of midway in various quests - I've gotten the quest from the Duke's ghost to find his killer, for example.

I've found the letter in Elrath's house showing he's behind the poison

(And, did I do that wrong, since he's now sent the assassins, who I killed? Was I supposed to visit the quarantine area first?)

But when I go to Ralph's building, he's not there - just a locked door.

If I pick the lock and go in the room, I get put in jail; if I wait to get released there's a -10 to reputation. *Then* Ralph is there nad happy to talk.

I tried sleeping and coming back, still no Ralph if I don't picklock his door.

What am I doing wrong making Ralph not show up?

Letter in Elrath's house - it's ok. He's supposed to send killers after you.

Sulking Ralph => hm, you tried to get into his room 2x, right? Do this => I lured several strong Elite orcs into his house, he came out to fight then. Normal orcs were too weak and the guards killed them before Ralph could exit.

Or => place a pyramid in the cell first - then unlock his room. IIRC, you lose rep after you are released out of the cell. But if you teleport yourself out => no rep loss. So, Ralphie should be outside then. Try it

Thanks for the ideas.

It really seems buggy - when I tell a guard standing outside his door I want to report a felony, he draws the building I'm in on my map.

Why wouldn't Commander Ralph want to talk when I bring that evidence...

As a side note, the whole prison thing here is a bit odd too - they don't search the cell for a magic teleporter when they lock someone up?

But, this basically seems to work - though it leaves one of the sub-quests for the poison, to do with Elrath, unsolved for no apparent reason.

I haven't yet gone back to the farmer who began the quest, I assume the reward is there as there was none from the Commander.

Now, to figure out what to do about the fort being charmed into enemies... or what to look for in the garden (not ready for spoilers yet on those:) )

Which one, please? Maybe the one with the poison barrels in the Inn and the key for it? As you can only speak to Elrath 2x => if you had not gotten this quest before speaking to him 2x, hm... - no, speaking to the quest giver (farmer) should solve that IMO.

Guards are guards everywhere => duty by explicit order only

Because you have tried to enter his room though he warned you 2x, right? And after these 2 times he locked himself up to sulk and cry. Even Commanders have their pride

Nono, you had your reward from the Commander => an invitation to Stormfist Castle, please look into your inventory. Though you get one as well from him after you solved the Ducal murder.
