1. Does augment damage apply to ranged weapons?

2. Are there any mage skill books that WON'T ever spawn on NPCs to be bought, thus having to be trained.

Augment Damage only works for melee attacks, not ranged weapons.

I do not remember seeing spell books for Seeking Flame, Master Summoner, Transfer Powers or Summon Demonic Aide, though that could be because I wasn't really looking for those spells. Common spell book in my experience were Telekinesis, Aura of Guarding, Spellshield, Fade From Sight, Freeze, Summon Skeleton, Banish and Resurrect.

And don't forget life leech. I've bought three of five (yuppee, lvl 5 lifeleech <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />) of my points.

I think you can get any mage skills at random, however no crafts (like repair, nor any direct weapon skills - actually I doubt that you can find books on any warrior or survivor skills, but I am not absolutely sure)

Didn't want to start a thread for this, but in case some people haven't tried this, you can leave armor and weapons behind (I leave tham at Mardaneus' house), and they are there for the game. Early on I came across some wicked swords and shieds that were just too much to lug around waiting to be able to use them, so I saved and tried it. I only tried this with Mardaneus, but the stuff is always there in the corner I left it in.
For me it was a shield with 350 armour and the Singing Blade that I wasn't ready for. I've read some people complaining about the random loot generator...well if you find something awesome and you can't use it yet, try what I did.
And sorry if this is an obvious thing, but I've played other games that don't let you do this.

Actually you can store anything anywhere you want - even leave it lying on the ground - it will remain there.

Usually one sets up some sort of home base near a teleporter, and put some chest nearby for storing, and a stack of hay for easy resting (unless you decide to carry the weightless portable bed around)and a pyramid for quick access.
