Alchemy lvl cap reduced from 4 to 2 => this probably happened due to a book you opened in Act 4. It was in mage Markunthar's cupboard and had alchemy. I warned about this in the Alchemy thread - sorry. But due to new game features in the 1.4er patch versions, some books now cause this trouble:
If you have a higher leveled skill and do not max out with skill pts, opening one of these books will reduce level cap. Very tragic in the case of alchemy (from lvl 4 to 2)
Clincher => depends on your lvl and the enemy one. If your lvl is too high, game balance pops up, you get less or no XP. Which lvl are you, please?
This is All in Act 2 kiya. I was able to find (fortunately I had this Saved
Game still showing--I normally delete ones when the menu has more than can see w/o scrolling---this one was after I had gotten to Imp Village, done a few Quests.gone to the BF and finished the First Dungeon) and in this saved game I DO have the Extract 4 Skill.
In this I am level 14 and I just went back to the BF to do Dungeon #2 and there the Demons,etc,etc--Nothing Gives Experience--Not even Mutants. Yet I can find Mutants in the Areas around the Imp Village and they DO give experience.
Makes Absolutely no sense to me how I can be TOO high a Char level to get Experience. I was Level 12 when I left Act 1 and everything there gave experience. Now in Act 2 I am just two levels higher and Nothing in the BF Dungeons give Experience---makes no sense whatsoever.
I also Discovered that in this Save the difficulty level is in the "Action" mode. Playing around with this I found that once you have chosen "Hardcore" and "Apply" it there you ALSO have to Immediately Save your Game--otherwise it defaults back to "Action".
I fail to even Comprehend HOW its Possible to be of Too High a level In the Same Act to get Experience. How could You Do that? What would you kill and WHERE
Could you Kill stuff Outside the Act that you are currently Playing
that would allow you to reach such a High Level (In the Same Act) so that Monsters in that Same Act would No longer give Experience?
Where would I find info on this so called "Game Balance" Mechanism?
In a Game such as this one where Progress is Linear and goes from Act 1 to Act(Whatever)there should be no way to gain more experience than is available in that Specific Act. Unlike "Free-Ranging" Games where you can go "Anywhere" in the Game you like and can gain experience to the Point that going back to one of the Starter Places (for instance) where the Monsters there are LOWER in level than you are so therefore you get very little,if any, experience for killing them.
I COULD continue with this SAVE--I would lose about 600k Exp Points IF I Did,
But I can't see any good reason to continue with a Game that is so full of *Bugs* that it is highly probable that I would just get "Screwed-Up" again somewhere along the Way.
I Play Games SOLELY for a little "Entertainment" value. Something for Me to do
while taking My Nebulizer Breathing Treatments and the 4-5 Hours per Day that I am on Oxygen. I don't have to be the "Biggest" or the "Baddest" Char or get the
"Mostest",but when a Game has this many *Bugs* and the "Confusion Factor" far outweighs the "Fun Factor" then I Have to Abandon it.
I must say, the last 3 Games that I have played this year --Gothic 1, Gothic 2,
and Sacred--were very Enjoyable. These were all 99% "Entertaining" and 1% "Confusion" whereas this Game is just the Opposite.
Thanks for the reply kiya--you are one "Nice" Lady.
