OK, I'm still in Act I and I'm already having trouble. I went to my first battlefield, bought some instruction--I thought--in alchemy; the game deducted my gold but I am still unable to actually do any--alchemy that is... I am only level seven--does one have to be a certain level before these skills kick in? My deathnight also bought a warrior skill from good ol' Brian and I'm afraid he got cheated too. They were expensive too. So, I give up on the endless battlefield maze and go on back to the citadel and --wonder of wonders--another maze, and I meet this imp and he sells me skills that also don't show up in my skills window. What gives? Is there something I have to do to get these skills to show up? Also, I was told it was not necessary to have en enchant weapon skill in order to use charms but I have two charms and the places to put them on stuff are xed off; was I misled? Do I have to have a skill to charm things and do I have to be a certain level for it to work? I really loved DD, but so far in this one I am frustrated and bored.

alchemy spoiler link, please click

If your skill from Annabelle doesn't show up - which version are you playing, please? In some former versions, BF skills did indeed not show up after you bought them - version 1.45 is fine in this case.

You do not need to have a certain lvl in order to use a skill/spell. You need the skill (books or traders to open the path) and skill points you get by leveling up to activate them.

About the imp (Tax?) who sells survivor skills => if you go into your skill table - you don't see the path you paid for and activated, so you can start to use it by putting skill pts into it?

Charms => the x-ed slots are ok. You need no additional skill, simply drag&drop a charm into an x-ed slot. Just pay heed to have the small charm pane of your item and the large inventory pane next to one another for the drag&drop procedure. If you don#t the small pane vanishes behind the large one.

In BD they used the same charm slot graphic as the locked slot in DD, but they are open.

Belaboring the obvious, here: the skills don't get implemented automatically. You have to go to the skill window and invest points in them.

thanx Kiya, it's newest version--so, skills don't show up till you invest points even after you've bought them? I have one point invested in my alchemy skill and the alchemy window will open when I click on the plant in inventory but it willnot let me select a potion size or do anything. What's this about I have to have a bowl? Not a vase or a bottle or a cup or any other container? Could that be the problem? I've picked up everything--and I do mean everything--but have not found a bowl yet. Thanx for the info on the charms. I was thrown by the x's--thought it was the same as DD. Is there something for me to look forward to other than just running around endless hallways in this game??

Correct

At level 1 of the alchemy extract skill, you should be able to make minor potions, as long as you have the right ingredients. No bowls or flasks are required, though holy water will allow you to make permanent potions on level 4 of the skill. See the link Kiya posted above, or;

Having trouble with alchemy.

The first act is linear by design, but the later acts are more open, with a variety of scenery above ground, and much more freedom in where you can go.

1. your alchemy char must be in leading or single mode
2. this char has to have all plants in his/her inventory

If the other char is leading, you can click on the plants => but no highlighted (golden) option to create comes up.

If the alchemy char is leading, but plants are in the other char's inventory => no highlighted (golden) option to create comes up.

If you have point 1+2 but lack a few plant colours => you can't create all potions.

Ok, got it! I have two more stupid questions, Kiya! (I guess this stuff is in the book (?) somewhere, but that's a lot like, um, studying, you know? I just loaded and went, so THANX for having the patience to answer these.) The crystals; I picked up the crystal bag and I have found several different crystals. I try to put the crystals "in" the bag, it flashes white, but the crystal just pops away and sits there. Is it supposed to disappear into the bag? It seems logical that crystals shoud go in the crystal bag...is that right? What am I doing wrong? 2) When I got the second battlefield key and went there no one was home. I ran through both levels and picked up all the good trash but got no experience points. Did I miss something I was supposed to do? Three and four were fine. 3) Are there other merchants--hopefully richer ones--than those in the battle fields? These guys are out of cash and I have a pile of stuff in the middle of the green. I have traded with anyone and everyone I've run across that will, but I need a real merchant!! 4) I got to the end of Act one in Samuel's Lair and the game freaked out!!! It turned into lines of color, dumped me off and then chastised me when I went back in for ending the game incorrectly; it wouldn't let me back in till I restarted my computer. Is this a bug? And if so, is there a download to fix it? 5) Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Left click on the crystal bag to open its window, if necessary move it so that window is not overlapping the inventory window, then drag and drop crystals from the inventory to the crystal bag window.

Before the patch there was a bug with the act 1 level 2 dungeon where it would be empty. Other dungeons and acts should be fine, AFAIK.

After installing the patch, the BF merchants' inventories (including gold) will regenerate each time you enter.

Good! I grovel at the feet of Raze-ancient dragon and am always glad to bring a smile into anyone's day! I do appreciate the help--really!! I downloaded the latest patch last night because I got to the end of Act 1 and every time I dropped the explosive into the lava, the game dumped me off. I restarted the computer, and reloaded the game three times (tremendous patience on my part don't you think?) and could NOT get past that point. I am hoping today will be a better divinity day...
