Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) Technical Problems problem with starting the game...

Hello everyone, I think others are also having this problem but im not exactly sure so im posting it here to see if anyone has a possible solution to my problem. i have installed the game and now when i run it it gets to the cd check there it goes to about 25% then i have to wait a really long time and eventually(about 5 min later) it gets to 50% and about 10/15 min later i think it starts the game but the screen just goes black..... i did the video card check and my computer crashed when i did it so i think that maybe the problem but i bought the game pack together with divine divinity when u start the game there you also get the video card test screen where u can choose a rendering system when i choose direct 3d it crashed but with the other 2 options software and direct draw it worked fine.... but when i start the configtool from beyond divinity i can't choose what rendering system i want to use, now my question is does the game start itself after the cd check or does the cd check crash my system? sorry for the long posts and if this problem is already discussed in another thread but im not sure if i had the same problem as other people (i did read alot of other posts before posting this one) thnx in advance if you got any ideas to what i should do.

ok i fixed the problem i read at a post that i had to put my windows resolution to the same as the game so i tested at 800x600 and windows also set to that value and it all worked so thnx for everyone trying to help on this forum no need to reply to this thread cus the game works...

With Divine Divinity, when you run the configuration test for Direct3D, does the screen just go black? If so, you can skip the test and the game should run fine, and perform a little better than Direct Draw or Software mode. The configuration program can have a problem with the Direct3D test with some Radeon (or less often Nvidia) cards / drivers. With a different type of crash, skipping the test might not help.
