Help! I've finished all three summoning tests and am ready to go to act 4, level 3. But--the elder Ankhumar that gives me the key to unlock the door with the stairs down is stuck in a wall in that locked room with the stairs down. Based on the only green dot I can't get to, he appears to be stuck in the wall across from the locked door (the wall that runs along the long corridor near the library).
My quest log has cleared all reference to the summoning quests and all other quests for this level. I have downloaded patch 1.45 just in case but no luck.
Going to the battlefields and different levels does not change his position in the wall.
Any ideas?

Someone else described how a BF trader got stuck in their hut and would not respond, but alt-tabbing to Windows and back shifted their location back down. Trying that is worth a shot, anyway.

I think alt-tabbing to Windows may have been how i got in the mess in the first place! No luck with it fixing the problem though.

That may be the case; it was with the BF trader mentioned above, but another alt-tab undid the problem a previous one caused.

In your save the elder is behind the wall, rather than in it, so using the hex edited data file I email back, you can talk to him and continue to the next level.

I've similar problem to this - twice - in Act 1 rat that I need to kill to get bone for Edmond at very beginning is stuck in wall. Figured it wasn't such a big deal and carried on. Am now at end of Act one and the last guy in the Battlefield quests has retreated into his tent and I can't speak to him to let him know I've got his black pearl & get my experience points. Assuming it's similar to him being stuck in wall. Can't click on either of them though can sometimes see them, sometimes not - though they're visible on mini map.

Checked the post and saw comments about alt-tabbing - I've been doing that a lot so that probably caused it but certainly doesn't fix it. Note you mentioned hex file you sent to fix Ankhumar problem and wondered if you had something similar for me? Would like to fix both problems but most bothered by battlefield bloke.

Thanks in advance!

Teleporting anywhere (via hex editor)

The file I sent Kam13 was a hex edited version of the data.000 file from a save I was sent.
The post above describes how to change an NPC's location. If you are not comfortable trying hex editing, you can zip your latest save game folder and email it to me (address is in my profile). If you save in the cell with the rat I can take a look at that as well, though there is only a bit of experience and a healing potion for solving Edmond's quest.
Each save is a separate subfolder in the '..\Beyond Divinity\savegames' folder.

Ta 4 that. But have to apologise for wasting your time 'cos have managed to Alt Tab the sucker out of the tent after all (only realised how that worked after last email). And, as you say, the rat is small potatoes.

However since it's happened twice may well happen again since I alt tab a lot. Assume hex editing not beyond me as used to be analyst/programmer in my dim & distant past. But not a clue at present - do I need particular software 'cos stuff on my PC doesn't recognise *.000? No big one if you don't have time to answer this, just curious for future.

Thanks again

The latest patch should help with shifting character positions due to alt-tabbing.

You just need a hex editing program to edit the save data files (regardless of extension). Since you may already be at least vaguely familiar with hex numbers, as opposed to decimal, using a hex editor should not be that much more complicated than a text editor (just a little scarier at first).
In the Teleporting anywhere post I listed a few freeware hex editor programs.
