Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General Need some help with an archer spec!

OK I am fairly new to the game, I played a while before but had to reformat and lost everything <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

But now I am looking to start an archer type character, but I haven't been able to decide on which skills are worth investing in. Right now this is what I am shooting for, no pun intended.

Bow expertise
Augment Defense
Elven Sight
True shot (Heard this was broken, is that true?)
Enchant Weapon
1 point in Repair

And as far as bow skills go, I am not sure which of the following would be the best:
Splitting Arrows
Poisoned Arrows
Spiritual Arrows
Elemental Arrows
Explosive Arrows

I would like to get some sort of spec before I start randomly throwing skill points into things that won't benefit me in the least. On my last archer I wasted good skill points on worthless things.

I didn't get very far in my game with an archer, but from what I've read, Poisoned Arrows and Splitting Arrows are much more effective than the others. Splitting Arrows are particularly useful in close quarters or against groups.


Archery as a warrior - my thoughts

My char is an archer but didnt learn any arrow types yet.

I've beaten the game as an archer.

Bow expertise--yes
Augment Defense--no
Elven Sight--don't need
True shot (Heard this was broken, is that true?)--yes it is true
Enchant Weapon--helpful
1 point in Repair--definitely


Splitting Arrows--yes
Poisoned Arrows--no, get poisoned weapon, the survivor skill
Spiritual Arrows--no
Elemental Arrows--no
Explosive Arrows--ok for fun

Splitting arrows and poisoned weapon are an incredibly good combo which will kill any monster including Josephine.

I use splitting and explosive arrow, explosive on anything with no fire resistance and splitting on things that do. RIght now my Recooperation time is 0 but i seem to shoot the same <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
