as this forum section is dedicated to "anything"...

well those who already hated the icelandic mermaid will... continue to hate her

but for others medulla is as usual (when subject is björk)
hugely surprising, really imperfect and totally enjoyable!

I simply adore her and I was very glad that she was the one and only guest singer in Olympic Games Ceremony here in Greece. If someone would sing for our sea -Greek sea- Bjork was the best choice.

well you cannot be wrong here, greek one with the borgia name ,
björk should be Poseidon's daughter
and she has always loved lands with a window over another continent just as Greece is (was?... but "was" is just provokating, don't mind)

I am sorry *was* is not provocating to me bacause I did not understand what you wanted to say about Greece. You will have to forgive me because my English are not good.
But I agree that Bjork should be Poseidon's daughter. She was just lovely dressed up as *mother sea* in the opening ceremony of the Olympic games and I enjoyed her performance very much. I liked her work when she was with Sugarcubes and I adore her solo albums. I am very proud to have her records from back then up till now. I don't know if you come from Island but if you do you should be proud for that great singer. I also want to add that she is a great actress too. She was simply awesome in "Dancing in the Dark" movie. Made me cry all night.

well i heard that bjork was pissed about how the announcers presented her during her performance as it ruined the atmosphere that she tried to create. i missed that part so i'm not sure if that is true.

well honestly i can't say that i'm crazy about her music but she's unique & that is good for music lovers.

more probably: i was once again mistaking some not understandable thing for correct english...

sugarcubes was very good, but greater former björk's band may be Kukl (1983-85)...
unfortunaly even if the 2 records were reedited some years ago it may be quite hard to be found by now...

Ah I have not even heard Kukl! Pitty! And yes if there where on in 1983-85 then I will probably never find them

@Janggut
I have not heard that. But the guy who made the speaking is stupid and I do not like him. He always appears in such events because in the past he was presenting Ballet in the Government tv channel. And now they think that he is an expert to everything concerns art.
I doubt if he ever heard Bjork.
My opinion is that Bjork does not need any introduction at all. Her eyes speak. Her voice speaks and her hands speak.

Luc, the Greek Olympic Committee should have used that guy for archery or shooting target. i'm sure that the greek athletes will not miss him & definitely score bull's eye.

I like Björk. I was crazu about her music about... could it have been a year and a half/two years ago? Something like that, I think. (I acually wrote about her when I did the Swedish national test in English/writeing. I wrought about things I could not live without/music and got top grade )When I got the remixalubum and Vesperine instead of Homogenic I lost interest though ...
Vesperine was a little too commersial for my taste (it might be because it's new. I don't listen to any new music. I listen to 80's Cure, early Smashing Pumpkins, Dire Straits and early AC/DC (same genre, all of it)). I like Post though and I love Debute (a pity that it is my brother and not I who owns it ).

And if you don't like electro well... No prob!

Anyway Medulla is just a raw vocal candy... not so new, not so old!!!

I've had Debut and Homogenic for a while now and love them both. I bought Post and Medula yesterday.

Post is good, continuing her great music.

Medula is apalling. It's lost the musical aspect of her work and focused on her singing. Her voice as an instrument among others works well. On it's own, or as the primary focus, it borders on irritating. It didn't help that the music seemed to go out of it's way to be unharmonious.

This is just one album. I'll still continue to love the music of hers I love. I think I differ from a lot of people in that I prefer music over song. Also, I prefer energy in my music, which this album seemed to lack.

I've had a couple of bad hits recently, buying albums based solely on previous experience with the artist. The last was Lamb – Fear of Fours; too much noise, not enough music. I'm going to have to start listening to them first again.

I like Lamb. And I just love their second album (what's it's name?)

quite generally i agree with you here, hef...
anyway in what is so called "pop/rock" think...
because classical vocals are obviously quite different...

nethertheless i made an exception for björk because her way to sing and to think a song is very cultural (and "refreshing cultural") but i may understand it sound boring...

anyway it is good that this thread doesn't become a unique view...

ps: i'm not a fan of lamb... for all i remember there was just one "listenable" album (forgot the name but it was the first or second...)

Lamb's first album, self-titled, is great. Fear of Fours was not. I think that was their second album, but I'm really not sure. It was the second oldest Lamb album in the store.

lamb is the first album

fear of fours (second or 3rd)

what sounds (3rd or 4th)...

and there is another but i don't know if it is 2nd or 4th (and it may even be it isn't out yet)...

i was refering to fof as "listenable"...

what sounds is really not, imo, and i don't know the first album

their gorecki single/maxi cds are good if not a bit too "björkish" in the way to listen to gorecki... and definitly (it seems) not findable!!!

After checking I see that Fear of fours was their second album (my favorite ) and What sound was the name of their third. And from that I figured out that their first was Lamb and their fourth and latest was Between Darkness And Wonder. All this is .

@ Janggut Oh yeah this guy gets on my nerves...

One thing to add. I also loved a song from Bjork called "Played Dead" which is from a Soundtrack but I have not seen the movie. I have the song though and I think -for one more time- that Bjork is very special. In whatever she chooses to do.
