I am stuck in the quest to get the imp for council.
I go to the imp world, picked the bees, but after killing all the wasps I head up to the house, and what happens is on my map I can see the red marking one enemy, but my menus leave like I'm about to hit a cutscene, but nothing happens. I've sat there for ten minutes...game is not frozen but I can do nothing but reload a save.
Is it possible that while killing the wasps I killed the wrong bee by mistake?
Or is there a sequence to opening urns...I get the impression you can't open them all?

you can open them all. i just takes skill. and about the game thing. i would just reload to an earlier saved game and try it again. it should work. that place is screwed up.

You should not be able to kill the wrong bee; you can kill enough bees that the queen gets rather annoyed at you, but that's about it. Siding with the bees, the mage/wasp should approach first for a short conversation, then after you kill him, the queen bee approaches for another cut scene conversation.
There are 6 jugs and 6 keys, though you can only open 5 of them. The order should not matter (unless that is part of the 'skill' opening them all), as long as you get the level-up jug.

Try running the configuration program and switching to software mode; that helps with some cut scene problems.

Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

If re-doing that section or doing it in a different way does not help with the cut scenes, you can get past them into the imp's house;

Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor

BTW, if you need a hex editor for this, don't get the latest 8.x release of Hackman; it introduces a low file size limit in the freeware version, making it unusable for this purpose. It is still possible to find the previous 7.x release, though; check here, or search Google for "hack704.zip" or "hack702.zip", etc.
Alternately, there are other freeware programs such as Frhed, XVI32 or those listed here or reviewed on this site.

I'll try to go back a save first. I did get a message from the queen saying something about me not doing enouggh, but I assumed that was scripted since I killed everything. I got the level up jar no prob.
Funny thing, the game used to give me a quicksave.1 AND .2, but after my XP SP2 I only get the one quicksave file, so maybe there is something buggered up.

Where did you get the cut scene with the queen? Both cut scenes should be as you approach the stairs up to the house. If you got the queen's cut scene first, that could be what is hanging the cut scene with the wasp/mage, since if you side with the bees he is suppose to come first.

In Windows Explorer, browse to the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\savegames' folder and delete (or rename) any quicksave folders. Perhaps one save became corrupt, or something, so the game is only overwriting the other.

Did you try re-installing the patch? Before the patch there was only a single quicksave. Afterwards there are 2 by default, though that can be changed by editing a configuration file (see the patch description page).

The hang-up is just before the steps to the castle. Now when I say hang-up I don't mean the game is freezing...my character's reflection moves at the edge of the pond, and the last wasp/bee slowly flutters around, leaves the screen, and that's it.
I recently had some problems with my XP home and did a system restore. I wonder if I buggered up the patch doing that, because it wasn't until I rolled back my system that I lost quicksave.2

Before I do this, what problems will I encounter if I update now? I will pull my best savefile out of the game folder, is there anything else I should look for?
Thank you

There should not be any problems re-installing the patch. It sounds like the system restore may have only effected a setting or limited number of files somewhere (or possibly it was just a coincidence).

Just to wrap this up: It seems, even with the patch there is a glitch during this quest.
If I open the jars and level up before I kill everything I am okay...the queen comes, says her piece and gives me the key and I can enter the house.
If, on the other hand, I kill everything, then go back to do the jars I do not get the cutscene, and my character just freezes there. The game isn't frozen per se, but all my menus leave like I am about to hit a cutscene, I just don't, and can't move him.

So heads up.

Thanks for the info. If anyone else runs into problems with those cut scenes hanging, that would be an easy workaround to try before resorting to hex editing.
