Strategy help:
Is being a rogue/survivor that bad? I am trying for an archer/mage/thief class if thats even possible. In Act 1, I am trying to summon skeletons, freeze the foes, then shoot from a distance with bow or crossbow. Is this an extremely lame stategy or what? Are traps even worth bothering with?
I realize that everything in the thief skills except pick-pocketing is junk from what others have said though I would really like to test this notion
/I just got the game on 9/28 BTW

I have not played a mage character, but archers can be very effective. An archer secondary character set to aggressive can attack and sometimes kill melee enemies before they get to you.
A couple people have said they like traps, though I have not tried them yet.

i think an archer/mage character is a bit redundont... but it may be playable, i don't know
a party specialized in ranged attacks (hero mage and DK archer for instance) just works well...
traps are fine...

In most cases you need one melee char, while the other can be either ranged, or mage.

The most useful traps so far (according to me) is the scorpion trap....

sorry lady not agreeing with that... i played a mage (hero) and an archer (DK) and the combo just worked great... (ok that's not classical but anyway it MAY work great)...

I dont exclude the possibitly of it working... what i am thinking now that you (sort of) pointed it out, is that a mage can act as both melee and ranged char.

Im not refering to melee as warrior.... what i am trying to say is:

Your mage can be ranged (casting spells from a safe distance), as well as when the enemy comes into melee range (right up to your char), whip out the dagger / staff / whatever weapon and still clobber the monster a silly shot over the head.... (act as melee character), all while your archer is killing off a couple at the same time...

No probs , you were rightfully misunderstanding me, since i DID initially mean worior / mage or warior / archer combos.....

Only when you replied, did the stike base...

Do! Apologies to all...
I really should have posted this question in the Divine Divinity forum.
The funny thing is that I thought I was playing BD until I was level 5, and kept asking myself "so when is the DK going to show up?". I purchased Beyond Divinity and the discs for DD were included, which was the first thing I installed and started. Later, upon examining the packaging I notice "free inside Divine Divinity"...Woo hoo 2 great games . I will work through DD first of course.
Special thanks to Raze and Kiya, whose copious informative posting on the DD forum has helped me immeasurably. Bless ye! I'll be back if and when I make it to Beyond Divinity.
