I inadvertently posted this message in the "Beyond Divinity" message board, when in fact, this is where it belongs. I just finished playing Wizardry 8 (a very good game) and I am looking to move on to something new. I have had Divine Divinity for awhile now but haven't got around to trying it. After making a false start with Gothic, a game with incredibly bad controls, I thought I might try DD. Can someone tell me what game you would compare it with? I have played most of the popular CRPG's like the BGate series, the IWD series, Planescape, Morrowind, NeverWinter, etc and enjoyed the lot of them. Is DD similar in gameplay like any of these? Thanks in advance.

DD is similar to Ultima 7 - easier as the ones you described. And easier than Beyond Div, as you do not have to find teachers for the skill tree - you can't unlearn skills this time. You either meet requirements due to your char lvl - or find/buy books to learn magic spells. Level cap for skills/spells is 5 for all. No battlefields to level up. Average ending is by lvl 50/52 (no level cap).

Please, download the patch 1.0034 before you start. And don't use "true shot", this skill is broken. Lockpick is very important IMO and works in Div.

Far easier than Wiz 8 in controls.

It would be hard to compare this game to any of the others for it is in a league of its own. As far as the graphics go they are very good. I too have played many RPG games and this one ranks way up there in my opinion. If I was you I would give it a spin for it is well worth your time to play.

(Über continueing his major RPG research <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />).

What's it like (exept it's good)? And what's Ultima 7 like (xept it's like DD)?

The graphics are pretty good for a game of it's age. It plays a lot like the Might and Magic series but you have a lot more options. It is very tough at the beginning but eventually you gear up enough to hold your own. A lot of combat, but for the most part it doesn't get too tedious. I would definitely recommend it.
