Is it me, or this game seriously going through some growing pains?

This time I'm in the work tunnels of the Ranaar academy, and when I reach down a hole to pick up two yellow gems, it tells me item acquired, and yet it's not in my inventory. When I go back to the hole, the same items are described as being there. I'm sure I need them to push into the little statue eyes, and I'm getting endlessly frustrated.

Also, I think my death knight is going through puberty. His voice keeps changing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm still suffering from that annoying screen black out when fighting, but it's true that double clicking the character icon remedies it. Still irritating though.

Any help on getting these two yellow gems would be appreciated. I keep getting so frustrated with this game that I swear I'll uninstall it, but then I remember how much it cost me, and I don't <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

Hole => if you grab into it you acquire an item each time => sometimes one of 2 yellow gems, sometimes one of those countless bones. I needed about 11 tries to get the stones instead of the bones. Text changes as soon as you have got both stones.

Push => no, not push. Click on the statue and an inventory will open up - then insert the gems into this, but you need more than yellow gems - tip is in the manuscript near the locked gate.
