I need help with the Ranaar corpse lying in the patience test room at the academy. When I first entered the room, I took the pickaxe, did the test and then went off to do Act IV battlefield 1. I think I may have sold the pickaxe to a merchant in error. I can't remember what it looks like and I am unable to purchase any items as I have no money. Can someone tell me what it looks like, or any other tips for moving on in the game. Or, is it all over for me? I hope not as I know there can't be too much further to go. Many thanks for any suggestions.

As a quest item, the pickaxe can not be sold, and does not show up in the trade window. Check your weapon inventory again, or any barrels you dump surplus stuff into. It looks like... well, a pickaxe. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> If that doesn't help, let me know, and I'll get the Inventory files for it.




As for gold, a single level of Pickpocket would fix that.
You can steal an 'unlimited' number of stackable items by holding the control key down when clicking on the stack, and taking all but one of the items. If you do not take the entire stack, it is not counted as a steal. Even without taking advantage of this bug, Pickpocket should ease your money problems.

Just use the hex edit trick to add mony to your character. If you read back a bit into the forum a little a user by the name of RAZE has posted in here on exactly how to do it. the statement that quest items can't be sold is inaccurate. there are some quest items that can be, and i think if you find the item before you recieve the quest you can sell. I did this one time in act 2 with the rabbits white rags quest in the battle fields. i found them and sold them before getting the quest. i hunted everywhere for them, and eventually figured out that i sold them. I simply bought them back and went to the right person and completed the completed the quest. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" />

Randomly generated quest items in the BF may be sellable, but within the main game, quest, unique and set items should not show up in the trade window (after an act change, set and unique items have their names changed and will be included in the trade window).

The pickaxe is not sellable (at least with the latest patch); I reloaded my save at that point to double check before posting.

When I had entered that room there was a what I thought was the pick axe on top of the corpse. But it would't work on the wall. Almost came back here to see what the problem was. But I move the clicker over the body and realized the pick axe was inside the body. Maybe recheck the body.
