I was so stupid today, I misplaced the key for the imp in the prison (beginning of act 2). So now I cant rescue him, and he cant tell me how to get off the island!

I didnt notice the key was mission until way too late, so no save left WITH it.

Is there any workaround, or will I have to start all over?

Did you loose the key that the first guard drops (required to rescue Tax in the north east cell) or the key on the table to the west (required for the imp in the south west cell)? Check at the entrance and to the west holding down the alt key, to make sure you actually picked up both keys (there is a lot of stuff around the west key you may have clicked on by mistake).


I can get the Inventory files in awhile so you can replace they key(s).

If you are comfortable hex editing, you can have one character bypass the locked door to talk to the imp, and have the other character leave the prison to get the first out of the cell again.
Teleporting anywhere (via hex editor)

Alt-tabbing out of the game can sometimes shift character positions slightly, which might allow you to get past a cell wall.

Sometimes there is a bit of a gap in the north west corner of a room or building. Neither cell quite fits this arrangement, since one of the walls continues past that corner, but you could check if you can see and talk to the imp from outside.

I lost the key that the guard drops.
Im sure I lost it, because I picked it up, and then I got a brain leak or something and dumped everything "unnecessary" in a barrel somewhere in a battlefield! (I cant believe Im telling you this...)

I cant get to the imp through the wall, but I havent tried alt tabbing yet, will do that.
Havent looked into the hex solution either, might do that in the morning. 03.00 over here atm, need to sleep.
Not sure how hex would get the char through the door though. Do you mean I should increase lockpicking on a char to max? Not really used to hex editing.

Oops, speaking of brain farts, I copied the wrong link above (now fixed). The one I meant allows you to alter your characters' positions.
I've updated the inventory files topic, in case alt-tabbing does not help.
