Hi There

I installed Beyond Divinity a few months ago & have been playing successfully. However i never played for about a month & when i tried to run the game over the weekend, it gave a cd check error, 'CD Check Failure'. I have never had this problem before, the cds are still in excellent condition...
Does anyone have any idea what may be the cause??

Thanx

For the protection system to work, you need to insert the CD labeled "Disc Two" (or "Game CD") and then start the game.
Before doing so, you may want to shut down programs that are known to cause protection failure, such as Norton Antivirus and Daemon Tools.
Also, if you have more than one CD or DVD drive, the protection might require you to insert the CD in the other device.
If the protection check still fails, click the "information" button and mail the generated report to our support team: support@larian.com

Just a guess...
The CDs may be in excellent condition but what about your CD drive?

I have seen this before myself, it was a strange configuration issue with the game, I rebooted my pc, cleared my temp files (from the c:\windows\temp directory), and reentered the game fine.

Assuming that didn't work -

1. use a cleaning cd on your cd drive (every 6 months or so)

2. you said the cd was fine, but how did you examine it? you have to tilt a cd in the light and check the reflection, otherwise some scratches and dust are almost impossible to see. Even if you don't see anything, use a lint and oil free cloth to swipe the cd, blow on it to remove any small dust particles, and retry it.

3. if that doesn't work, try a cd repair kit, use the solution on the cd very sparingly if you cannot actually see any scratches (nearly invisible ones can still be fixed this way). I've corrected a number of problems with other games this way.

I did insert the Game CD.
The game used to run fine with my antivirus in the background so i doubt that is the problem.
I dont have daemon Tools installed, however i recently installed Nero Vision Express 2 but i dont think that should be a problem.
I have 2 drives, both in working condition. Game failed to launch from both drives.
And finally i can't access the 'information' button. When i click on the Error Tab at the bottom of the screen, nothing happens. So i'm forced to close program using Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

Thanx for the advise... I will clear the windows temp files and see what happens.
I am positve that the problem is not with the CDs or CD Drives.

Cheers

<sigh>

Having the SAME problem!!! Cleaned out ALL my temp files, removed ALL background processses one at a time, have drivers updated, am running on a machine that WAY exceede requirements... All to no avail... The game just WON'T START!!! It keeps insisting that there is something wrong with the cd, not letting it pass the check.

I DID run the game successfully for a while, but tonite when I started it up... errr, TRIED to start it up... I got a message about installation (didn't pay much attention, sorry...) and it rebooted the computer.

I have tried EVERYTHING I could THINK of, but STILL can't get any more use out of the game cd(s) than if they were drink coasters! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

In my first post here in this thread, I have suggested to send a report to support@larian.com, but nobody did...

If the protection check fails, click the "information" button and mail the generated report to me. I can solve the problem by providing you with an activation code.

*Procedure to create this report into detail*

1. The "Checking disc" dialog.

Let the protection check disc 2 without pressing the "cancel" button.
This may take a couple of minutes, but please do not cancel this action.

2. The "Disc identification error" dialog (or "No disc found" dialog).

Click the "information" button. The protection engine will now generate a hardware report. This may take a couple of minutes. Do not cancel.

3. The "Error details" dialog.

Press the "Save report" button and save this textfile (for instance to your desktop for easy reference).

4. E-mail this textfile to support@larian.com

5. We will contact you later on and send you a key so that you will be able to play the game.

Thanks,
Lynn
