HI,

New to the forum and just started BD last night .. this is a well done game.
After years of D2 I was feeling like a junky.. had to get a fix but almost hated doing it anymore.
tried Sacred but I got sick of it fast.. repeating monsters and a ton of bugs.. got very "same ole, same ole" quickly.
I am proud to say I uninstalled both and am playing BD now.. got to act 2
and did all 3 battlefields in 1.. I enjoyed the battlefields..get some lvl's, items, etc. and take a break from the "seriouse" questing.
At first the graphics bugged me alittle as far as the characters and a few of the voices seemed alittle lacking in sincereity.. but that passed quickly and I am caught up now : )
I found 1 thing I cannot figure out.. I have 2 items "uniques" in my inventory that when I go to the trade screen they are not there.
both are (green) unique items.
a hammer (skullcrusher) i think and also a lucky leather cap.
My char is a wizard/warrior I am going to try combining them thus far its worked out nicely. DK is a warrior.
anyway nice to meet ya and glad to be here.
O ya! playing on normal I guess.. not the easiest but next one up.. DOH can't remember what ya call it in BD.
And didn't find a summoning doll without a spoiler as to exactly where they are .. did I pass one up yet?
Thanks.

I killed everything in act 1 didn't know you got quests from the gaurds they all attacked me on sight.
made it to act 2 is there anything in act 1 I really need?
I can load a save if I have to and go throught it again.. : /

Or can I go on from here?

Thanks
Nilrem

Set and unique items do not show up in the trade window in the act they are found. If you bring them to the next act, they will be renamed (they keep their stats) and will show up to be sold, if you wish.
Equipped items on the non-lead characters will not show up in the trade window.

The difficulty levels are Very Easy, Action, Tactical and Hardcore.

There is one summoning doll available each act. The first doll is a reward for helping the poisoned imp in the pit level of the citadel, who's brother asks you to kill a bony monster for its tooth.

If you didn't notice, there is a patch.

You missed some experience and a couple quest rewards by not using the citadel disguise armour, but nothing you can't do without. Had you used the armour, you could have removed it at the end of the act to go back and kill everyone.

If you don't mind missing a couple quests I wouldn't redo the citadel, but you might want to reload a save at the end of the act and go back for the summoning doll. That doll is the only one that can use a crossbow (none can use a bow). Their limited range (without being upgraded) makes then useful for specific fights when you need help (which I took advantage of the last 2 fights of the game) or as mules (to carry loot) and trap detectors (they can trigger area traps, but not open trapped containers).

THere are no items you will need to take from one act to another. All the quests are act specific

I normally only take the stuff i really like to the next act and sell the rest in the battlefields.

The only things i would make sure i have from act 1, is (as Raze said) the summoning doll, and the book, teaching you beginner ranaar language (page 40 of the strategy guide). All the rest of the items becomes mere trade items to me

Yes, but on the other hand set items lose their value after each act. Then they are no longer set items anymore.

The only items I took into *every* act were the books written in Ranaar language - I really wanted to get to know their contents !

Lol i took the easier way to do this.......

I read the C:\Program Files\Larian Studios\Beyond Divinity\Common\books.txt

(for that matter i just HAD to replace some of the more boring books with jokes, or funny facts....

Imagine running around in an act and you stumble across a note that reads

"Facts that little children got to learn.

NEVER let your mother brush your hair if your parents are fighting..."
or You cannot trust the dog to look after your food...

or just weird lines and jokes

I'd suggest that you just send them to Larian. Maybe they take them for DD2.

Thanks for all the fast and friendly feed back..
I loaded a save game from the beginning of the barracks lvl and tried to back track to the pit and get the tooth for the little guy but had a hard time fin ding a way through. smirk
I have the book for learning the language though.
Tough decision here.. let go of quite a few lvl's and start wayyyyyyyyyyy back or go on without the doll.. hmmmmmmm
lvl 13 right now and notting having any problems killing what I have run into thus far. ; )
I noticed the items change thats the tough part.. I loaded save games acouple times so far and when I did the same dungeons in BF they generated diff items than the first time. I don't wanna give my gear up.. heheheh.
I did get the upgrading dolls training also.
This doll deffinately worth starting back for ? I mean does it reeeeaaaally enhance the game play and make life tons easier? or is really neccessary?
I don't mind the game being alot harder. just don't want to invest another bunch of hours and find out I messed myself up and HAVE to go back.
My char is doing 65-104 dmg (DK about the same) melee has 21 armr.
but can also heal, ID, and cast lvl 2 elemental air/earth/wind/water spell.
about as far as I have gotten. lvl 13
any suggestions as to must haves for a wiz/warrior?
Thanks Again

You shouldnt have any problems to go back to the tooth imp's level....

Map of Baracks level Go back down number 1

Map of Citadel level 2 You will appear at number 20, you need to speak to the imp at number 2 (if you havnt already) and then head to number 11, kill the monster and take the tooth back to number 2.

You don't have to restart from the beginning of the citadel unless you really want to do the quests. From a later save you can simply run back citadel entrance and backtrack to the imp quest, as Lady Rain described.

Be warned that the summoning doll skills can not be unlearned. If you want to play around to test them, save first so you can reload if you wish.

You do succeed in undoing the soul forge at the end of the game, so the hero is alone for the after game battlefields. The act 1 summoning doll could be handy then, since it is the only one that can use ranged weapons (crossbow). If you don't really like the BF dungeons, then the next doll will work just as well to hold loot or trigger traps.

Edited add on:
I can't believe I spent more time posting the doll questions than it took to get the doll.. heh everything was dead so it was in and out.
Doll is deff cool. good to have a mule too.
well off to act 2 BF got the key.
Hey if i may ask..
I purchased (was taught) alchemy skills and summoning doll upgrades etc.
are they automatic or something?
I went to the skills screen and it shows no diff pnts available or lvl.
srry for being a noob again.. humbling experience.
Thanks

Once you learn a skill it should show up in the skill window available to put skill points into.
NPCs do not check the skills you know, so can offer you skills at or below the level you already have.

If you go to your skill panel, you will notice 2 rows of open "skill slots"

If you click on any of them, you will notice underneath, there are a skill tree that appears (a menu style listing of all the skills available to you at your current stage in the game), you can click through them, and invest points in the ones you want.. (you will see right at the bottom of this panel how many skill points are available to the character). Just buying them only gives you the ability to put points in them... only after putting points in them can you use them...

(Alchemy extract doesnt show up in your secondary action, when you right click on an "alchemy plant" you will have the options available to make potions.)
