Oooh! I want to hear your first impressions, once you've put some time (a few hours) into the game.

Rule of thumb for most PC games: install newest patch.

I guess it's only a matter of time until someonme calls himself or herself "CTD" ...

Or maybe DEATHATTHEDOOR should try to shorten his name like CTD "CRASHTHEDOOR" ...

Well our tendency to abreviate everything is most peculiar..... and sometimes most devastating (remember y2k)

On other forums, some call MysterD this name: MyD.

Ok, let me answer my CTD and add another useless reply to the list

(in this case CTD may (or may not) refer to "call to duty" )

Yeah well when i load the game i "test" it be playing a bit.

It works well and so now i am going to install the patch.

I like it though...i find it a bit different compared to DD and so i suppose i have to get used to it.

I dont mind the voice of the deathknight...its evil maybe not in the rgp sense(more like sci-fi or a Harley-Daivdson biker rider)

Oh yeah...i am not playing morrowind anymore becuase i had to re-install windows and so i think i should just stick with one or two games for fear of losing my well developed characters in all games.

LOL @ this.
I can read it both ways!!!

I think the game that CTD'd on me most (Crashed to desktop) would be Arx Fatalis. Ugh!

I on level 8 now and i have reached a room where i see a red pentagon and i have reached level 1 of battlefields.

Now i dont want spoilers but i am going to comment on the game so far.

I like the fact that there is an air of uncertainity..i.e you dont know what is around the corner and could die at any moment. I also like the fact that you have to use your brain..e.g i went into a room which was full of posion and so had to find a lever to stop the posion.

I would have liked to hear my heros voice once in a while...i mean the deathknight is ok when you hear him but i would have thought that the contrast of the heros voice at times would be cool.

I dont like the music in the battlefields(thats just me). The battlefields are useful though.I have picked up a few quests and i am looking for where the items might be. Having said that when i go into the "Entrance" of some places its just a huge maze and i get lost. Other entrances in the wilderness areas are locked althougth i have a feeling i know how to unlock them.

I am not too sure about the teaching aspect of the game. Getting trainers unlocks other skill paths and this is i suppose a good thing...altougth i would have liked to see all the options of skills. Having said that i suppose its fun becuase i am sure that there are new paths waiting to be discovered which were unknown in divinity and so its interesting to see what you will get.

Overall so far i long to escape Samuels prision and be amongst elves/dwarves like the where people go amogst their business in towns/viallges and the green land of the forests.

[color:"orange"]I dont like the music in the battlefields(thats just me).[/color]

All the music is in the folder '..\Beyond Divinity\Wav\music'; if you listen to the ogg files (need an audio player that supports Ogg Vorbis, like Winamp or Zinf) you can rename the ones you don't like so it will not play, and even copy one you do and give it the name of one you don't, to change which music is played in that area.

BF quest items and monsters are placed randomly on the third levels of the dungeons (it is possible for any particular dungeon to have none, one or multiple items or boss monsters).

W/ the player speaking or not speaking: that wouldn't matter to me, really.

I've enjoyed games where I take on the role of someone and they are voiced-acted like GTA: Vice City...

...and games where the player never speaks w/ audio dialogue like GTA III and Morrowind.

I wish there were more forests and greens in the game.... I must admit, even though i love crystals and granite..... i wouldnt emigrate to nemises any time soon..... Rivellon would be fairly high on my list of choices

I like the fact that at least my DK is sarcastic enough.... i hate it when they have a voice for a char that is a sweet and innocent voice.... meanwhile all i want to do is be nasty and evil

despite some people objection of BD being less 'open' than DD, i love it for what it is as its character development is set in such a way that u don't get too hung up on what kind of character u like your player character to be; it can be anything! ain't that beautiful? plus the teacher of skills made thing more fun. u'll never know the kind of skills being offered to u & u'll try lots of stuff just to find out. discovery is a whole lot of dangerous fun but fun nevertheless!

quite unfair for both DD & BD to be compared, now that i've played fairly advanced into BD though not finished with it yet. each is fun in very diversified way.

@ tragic -> i thought u have the game all these while. had u not buy BD, it would be .... tragic!
