Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems Reinstallation problem

I have installed played and completed Divine Divinity last year but now i'm having problems installing it again i keep getting an error saying i'm having unpackaging problems .

I've checked for remaining files on my HD from when i had it installed before and there were none , Is there something i'm missing or something else i need to check for/do?

Any help is gratefully recieved i'm dying to replay this now.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to install the game?

Do you have a different optical drive you can try? Have you checked the CDs to make sure there are no fingerprints, dust or scratches that could be causing the errors?

If that doesn't help, try the manual install procedure described in the Troubleshooting Tips topic.

Yes i've done that even dl'd winrar but nothing is helping , Is it possible for something to be stuck in the registry that might be blocking a reinstall? (it has happened to me before with other games so anything's possible in my eyes lol)

The only registry entry the game uses is for the patch to find the install path. I doubt that is the problem, but in theory the install could be choking on a corrupt registry entry and giving a misleading error. That shouldn't prevent a manual install, though.
In any case, the registry entry the game creates is below, if you want to check / delete it;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CDV Software Entertainment AG\Divine Divinity

Do you have access to another computer you could try installing the game on, to make sure there is not something wrong with the CDs?

Looks like i'm gonna have to format , But thanks to Raze for trying to help under very odd circumstances i'm very gratefull for the help you gave me.
