Depends. If you'd like to play an archer, pick bows (x-bowskill broken?). If melee, try axe (2-handed) or sword (one or wto handed). There are uniques of all these weponds (unique is often very good, so this pretty much guarantee you finding some decent weponds).

I guess i have to be more specific, I'm going to be a melee warrior
-Would you xX_'recommend'_Xx that I use axes or swords or blunt weapons?
-would you xX_'recommend'_Xx that I use 2-handed weapons or 1-handed weapons and a shield?

Two handed weapons are more preferable. They do a damage of around 100 and kill monsters in one blow. Which means the monsters will not have the chance to attack back. Two handed swords are more preferable with sword expertise that axe with axe expertise.
That was my opinion for a warrior

Since I've tried out a lvl 45 warrior in whasteland I know it really won't matter whatever you do (I would allso prefer swords, since there are both good two-handed swords and one-handed swords, so you can change if you like to). A one-handed warrior with lvl 5 swordexpertise, stun etc WILL own. A two-handed will too, so pick what you like.

PS If you choose shield you can have full dragon set ... DS

I think it's a pity that there are only uniques of swords, bows and axes. If there was uniques of others (spears for example (throwing, extra dmg, faster) or maces (LOTS of extra dmg) or why not hammers (5% chance of deathblow)) you could shoose these easier. But now you don't know if you're going to find a good wepond or not...

I always use an axe cos you get really good axes from the beginning and you can kill pretty much anything with an axe at quite a low level.
You need high strength this is a good point though cos it means you can carry more stuff.
Doesn't matter if it's one handed or two cos after one blow from an axe the enemy isn't gonna be very healthy.

After beating the game, I must say that I prefer aiming for one-handed swords. But I always like being able to carry a two-handed sword. One-handed ones are always nice because if you have a tankish sheild (like I did ) than *poof!* you are a strong person with a good sword (and if you save before you get the holy sword, you can keep randomizing its identification until you get a very good one - again like I did ). So like I said in my ( ) a good single-handed sword is nessesary if you plan to be a single handed warrior (duh ).

BUT! Always keep in mind that you can carry a two-handed sword if you don't have a good one-handed one and shield! Make your warrior able to be a one-handed or two-handed swordsman and you're set! Whichever you have the better of, use it!

Killerzzz

P.S.: Like I did, hehehe.

One of the great things about Arcanum is that you could carry two handed swords in one hand, if you were strong enought (and as a melee figher, you allmost HAD to max strenght, just for the dual dmg bonus ). Think and ogre with a tanker shield AND a two handed sword . The only drag was that you couldn't wield dual weponds (think an ogre with TWO two-handed swords- one in each hand ).
