When i play thief-like types when levelling up i always put 3 points in agility and 2 points in constitution.
As a thief you would want to specialise in backstab skill...no shield.
Only add points to strength later on if you want to wield heavy equipment...usually this is inevitable as the better equipments tend to be heavier.
Use the spidermines and trialbombs...their is no need to fight with scorp traps.
If you are going to attack many enemies then you should do so at night where to attack run, sneak then go back to attack again.Remember to turn off ay trchs nearby.
Once i have used a shadows potion...just outside a dark exit... and even when i am fighting i never get the speech " ive become visible again".
If you plan on stealing somethng remember a good theif knows exactly when the npc will leave the room and for how long he will be out.
Sneaking also can become important if you use it wisely.
Attacking someone by "hit and run" takes time and patience and beleive me sometimes its just best to get out there.
Backstab,disarming traps,traps,elven stamina,survivors instinct are good...obviously lockpick,charm equipment are a must...never tried pickpocket myself.
Ahh yes always rememebr to use the statutees to scout areas...or even use the wizards eye spell.
