Ok, thanks to Lynn the game doesn't think I'm commiting software piracy anymore. But, there is another, much smaller bug.

Whenever I pause the game, the skill selection palette opens (the one where you can select what spell or skill you want to be assigned to the right mouse button).

When I unpause, it goes away. If I close it before unpausing, though, and then unpause, when I unpause, the skill selection palette opens back up! In other words, pausing and unpausing flipflops the state of this palette.

I used to like to pause it a lot but since I have so many skills, when I pause I can't see anything!

Hmm, is anyone else getting this wierdness?

It sounds like the key to open the skill panel is mapped to the same key used to pause the game. Look in the .ini (I don't know which one sorry. I'm not at my home computer.) and change the key for one of those things to something else.

Is there a hot key for the skills pane listed in the Options menu? If so, you might be able to check / change it there.

Nope, there is no such assignable hot key. Nice suggestion, but I already tried it. Any other ideas?

Did you try changing the Pause hotkey (and then maybe switch it back if fixed, to see if it happens again)?

As an automatic suggestion for weird problems, try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

Thanks Raze

Clearing out that dynamic folder did it!

You'd have think I learned my lesson with that folder, I used to always clear it out but w/the patch I thought that it wouldn't get corrupt. Whatever, clearing out that folder is really no bother at all.

(thanks HandEFood too for your suggestion)
