It is impossible for me to get this novella on its own, I see. I already bought the game in Canada; I'm not buying it again. The novella is available with the soundtrack, but a) I don't want the soundtrack. If I want to listen to the music, I will play the game. b) There were only 500 such packages made, so it's likely too late anyway. c) I'm in Korea now, so ordering anything off the web is a royal pain in the butt. (Or at least it has been everytime I've tried it.) So, can somebody please summarize, or point me to a summary of the novella? Since it is impossible ( ) for me to read it or download it, I'd at least like to know the main points. Thanks in advance!

Well, basically it's about the growth of the Damned One - from childhood to youth - and how it came that the followers of the Black Ring invaded Nemisis.
If you open your eyes and use a sharp mind, then you can deduce many things from the dialogues and books found within <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> , also the Official Strategy Guide is handy for this.

Welcome to the forum Brknkybrd
1- You don't need to read the novella for playing and finishing the game. I have the novella but i did not read it yet.
2- You STILL can order for the fanpack with Rhianna's novella and Kirill' music. It's not too late. The pack will reach your home one day. For exemple it needed 3 or 4 weeks for travelling from Belgium to the north western part of the USA (Seattle).
3- A long time ago, i asked for a downloadable version of the novella but Lynn answered to my post that it was not possible.
4- Maybe somebody who did not like the game would accept to give you or to sell you the novella, i hope so.
It's a great game and i read very great comments about the novella.
BTW last night i looked at Arte channel (a French & German TV channel) a very interesting program about PC games and there was in it, a great part about the gamers in Korea !

2- You STILL can order for the fanpack with Rhianna's novella and Kirill' music. Yeah, but unfortunately still only with credit cards. That's why I was so glad I could actually buy the English version of it containing the novella.

Yeah, but unfortunately still only with credit cards. That's why I was so glad I could actually buy the English version of it containing the novella. Yep i completely agree with you Alrik. I got the novella with my Beyond Divinity game but i would have bought the fanpack with Kirill's music if i could have paid with an internationnal money order. I never used my credit card to pay things bought on the internet. I have no confidence at all about this kind of payment. Barta

I also dont understand why people dont buy the CD.... i love it....
I use my credit card on the internet all the time.... and never had a single problem...
Yea there are people who can intercept it... but they are closed down and prosecuted too quickly for it to be a huge risk...
If you buy online, creditcard companies have to give you 3 months (In SA at least, different times may apply in other countries) to dispute a specific payment... and if the company who you bought it from cant produce proof that you have either SIGNED or approved the payment (most of the time if they can prove that you accepted delivery, it counts as proof of authorisation), the banks will reverse the transaction and make a case of fraudulent transactions against that company.
Most credit cards in SA, now require a pin number to be entered at the point of sale... or if it is an internet transaction, that you enter a digicode (a generated code from a small mobile device), or the bank will send you a request for authorisation via your online banking mailbox and will only make the payment once you approve it).
I dont know what the security is like in other countries, but i have never had problems with ours.
I still want to get my hands on a US copy of the game... just to have a copy of DD again (my game disk is stuffed). But i will get that once i actually set my mind to it..... at the moment i have other things distracting me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I admit that I'm quite conservative regarding credit cards.
I'm wondering whether this is a "cultural difference" ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
By the way, they can also be used to collect data about customer's shopping behaviour.

I admit that I'm quite conservative regarding credit cards. I am also quite quite conservative regarding credit cards. I agree with Lady Rain, a lot of people never had any problem by paying with credit cards when they bought things on the internet. In France the bank also reverse the money if there is a problem. But i don't like it and i don't have any confidence in this system. I guess that there will be something more secure for the payments in a near future. If a french member would like to buy Kirill's CD and don't have any problem to pay with his/her credit card. I would ask him/her to buy one for me and i would give him/her the money back directly. Well the long and the short of is this :
-Hero from Divine Divinity chooses to let the baby live instead of killing him and he raises his as his own child because he thinks if he teaches him the ways of good, that he won't turn evil
-As he grows up he shows alot of potential for magic stuff but his father doesn't allow him to learn too much because he is afraid he might abuse that power one day.
-One day, the boy falls in love with a girl which happens to be a member of the black ring, she wants to teach him dark magic so he can become what he truly is; the damned one.
-As you probably know, it's the hero's task to kill members of the black ring so after they capture the girl they decide to kill her but the boy (Damian) walks in on the execution and watches his father kill his loved one.
-Damian swears revenge and musters a large force of evil of all kinds and attacks the army of the hero (Lucius If if I remember correctly).
-During the battle Lucius manages to lead Damian away from the battle into a crypt of some sort where he had seen strange rifts to other dimension before. Instead of killing Damian he pushes him into a rift and he puts a protective spell on the rift (or on damian, can't rememb)erso he can't just get back by stepping back into a rift in the other side.
-So damian gets sent to the world of Nemesis where he is found by the ranaar. He can't remember who he his though. The ranaar take him to the riftrunning academy where the leader of the academy opens a rift for him to take back to his own world but he can't step through it because of the spell. So the ranaar decide to teach him the ways of riftrunning so one day he can go back himself by making a portal.
-However, this fails as well and he becomes really really pissed off. So the High Elder of the academy goes to rivellon to find out some info about the boy so after a while he meets Lucian who tells him of Damian and of the curse. He tells Damian that the curse can't be broken, only by Lucian himself. Damian doensn't believe this and kills the Elder.
-Damian orders some imps to steal a special crystal from the Ranaar which keeps the Demons vulnarable, the crystal stops the demon regeneration or smething like that. With it, the Ranaar can kill the demons. So together with a demon army he attacks the high academy to use it's secrets to get back home. The Ranaar try to defend the Academy but all seems hopeless. That's when the demon Asmodeus appears in front of Anlokam, who is the daughter of the high elder. He offers her to stop the demons and save her people in exchange that she becomes his slave. She agrees but he has tricked her because everyone was already dead when she agreed.
And that's where beyond divinity begins!

I guess that there will be something more secure for the payments in a near future. I am sure that sites and facilities like "paypal" or "ebucks" or "bluebean" are available woldwide..... but sadly only a selected amount of companies have paypal links and features on their sites <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> I do agree with Barta, that if the option is available, i'd rather use other methods of payment, but my credit card is well acustomed to travelling the web <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> If they want to draw a report about my shopping behaviour.... the only thing they will conclude is MAD, INSANE, COMPULSIVE, VOLATILE.... stay clear, mayday, RUNnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

yer a funny one lady..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />
That's how i bought my Fanpack online with a credit card... most of what you say applies here in Canada too... tis a good thing i say! And it WILL only get better... there's way too much money floating around out there, to let it all go waste... they will think of a better more secure way that "most" people will be happy with... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> ...and i only say most,... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I think they should just make paypal (or the like) a common payment option.... stop charging the vendor MAJOR $$$ just for the service to have a payment link on his site....
Rather make the 1% service fee and make it a common practice.... than charge 7% fee (which sometimes eats up the whole markup of a vendor) and have the vendor say "i dont WANT that service"
But i agree its busy getting much better <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />.. in SA we now starting to deploy MOBILE credit card facilities... where you get a software upgrade for your cellphone... and you can do credit card transactions through your cellphone... no more credit card machines needed... with ideas like that happening, its only a matter of time before they bring in facilies where you can (as the client) phone in, give the vendor's "dealer number" and amount, and the bank will sent the confirmation directly to the vendor (maybe via sms / text) or something similar....
Now that would be much better, since nobody else had your credit card number, and the vendor gets confirmation directly from the bank...
but <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> lets see how happy people will be in 5 years time <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
