Hey Virgo.
Been like ages.
I thought you had left too.
Lot has changed while I was "away".
Nice to see you.

IBP is awesome. Vbulletin isn't too bad, if you're going for a free forum, PHPBB has a great backing community.

I like ProBoards, ads or not. They provide a great service, IMO - and the more so as it's free.

Easy to use, too, which was very useful back when I first started and knew nothing at all about forum software! smile

Not sure one could really call blatant spamming a revival...

Well, while I'm a long term forum member here, my 'home forum' is pretty obviously my own, so I tend to start most of my topics there rather than here.

Unless I know something is definitely likely to appeal here, when I may well cross post smile

That's fair enough, I take it that the Banner in your Sig is your home Forum

You'd be correct smile

The Larian people are kind enough to be both understanding and genuinely supportive smile

They are, and it does. I only join boards with this kind of friendly atmosphere, as I dislike the other type intensely. Needless to say, I join very few boards!

Yeah same here there arn't many forums I take part in because most I've viseted tand to be outright rude to people that arn't in their little group.

Yeah, I never get that 'Elite Group' mentality. What's so special about being there five minutes longer than someone else?

On the good forums (Including my own and here) no-one cares how long you've been a member, only whether you are friendly and, thus, a good boardie. Talk and you will be talked TO. No standing on ceremony, no groups that do not include 'all of us, together'. No other way to do it right, IMO smile

Yeah I know, I never understood it either, it shouldn't matter how long you've been on a forum. All that should matter is the fact that you've all joined the same forum for the same reasons, like here I joined this forum because I love Divinity. Some forums are just too unfriendley for my taste I'd rather stick to places like this were it's more of a community rather than a gang.

Community is exactly the right word, yes. All good forums are communities, and they all welcome new people to join the community. As you say, everyone's there for the same reasons, after all. The idea of forum-as-clique is, to me, a definition of absolute failure.

My banner doesn't say 'The Chaos Cascade Welcomes All Nice People' for no reason, believe me! People are the life blood of any forum, and the more people the better! smile
