Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General Can you help me in the beginning of the game?

When I go into the last part of the catacombs underneath the town where you start off in, I get killed by skeleton gaurdians, the skeleton summoners, and ghouls. I managed to kill 1 skeleton gaurdian by using hit a run tactics with a bow for like 5 minutes. Besides that, I can't get close to hurting them. Can you give me any advice?

You can open the 4 tombs and then run for opening one of the tombs in the middle of the room.
You will acceed to the next level of the catacombs.

You could come back later for killing these monsters when you will have a better level and better weappons.

Have you solved the quests in Aleroth ?
You can get XP points solving quests.

Who is Aleroth?

Aleroth is the small town in which the game begins.
There are a few quests to solve in this town :
- Healing the two soldiers.
- Find the Drudanae for George.
- Find Slasher for the orc Smiruk.

I just got through with killing the necromancer that took over that old wizard.

And about the slasher, where do I find it? I looked everywhere. I brought 1 very strong axe to the orc, but it's not the slasher. Then I found another strong axe that I identified, but he then got mad and him and this group chased me around for like 3 minutes. It looked like something from those Benny Hill movies <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

And who is George and what is this Drudanae?

If you get the Axe she is not identyfied, so dont worry bring the Axe to the Trader Georg.

The Drudanae is a Plant which you can find in the Garden of Lanilor.
The Garden is in the west from Lanilors House. Talk first with Georg, then (after you get the Quest with the plant) then take the plant and bring it to Georg. It will be better if you save before you pick up the plant.

Kill Jake twice - is another opportunity to gain XP and level at the beginning (see the graves at the small cemetary in the north of Aleroth - read the inscriptions! Do what you're told not to do - anything you need is in the vicinity! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />)

Slasher can be found in a little sub-dungeon in the second level, covered by a hidden floor tile; it is the same level, where you also find all the other nice axes.

If you do all the Aleroth quests (and some looting), you can be level 5 when entering the catacombs, which will bring you close to level 8 at the end of it.
