Hi!
Sometimes when we find spellbooks they don't give the spell of thier titles, but they give the spell wich's picture matches with the one on the book (see thread titled "spellbook heaven's blessing doesn't work"). I found an exception : the book is named "strike" and the picture is the splat of the spell "elemental bolt", but it gives the skill "elemental hail". It's the second time it happens to me, so I assume it's like that every time for that tome.
Take note! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hello!

I also have the 1.0034a version. To what I've read, these bugs were not fixed in the previous patches (including verion 1.34).

Notice that in this case it can be a good thing as much as a bad one for people who prefer elemental hail to elemental bolt... (including myself <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />)

it depends on the level you have when you used the book... if your level is not high enough you may have another spell.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />

i'm a bit indiscreet here but is your motherly language french LaFille?

there is a french official forum about DDhere

forget that if i'm mistaking <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

MG, are you sure?
I know from the healing spell, that you can learn it even if you dont have the neccessery Level six for the first Skilllevel.
Thats happen if you cure the two patient in Aleroth and get the reward from Goemoe.
But, ok, that is not a Book, and i`m not sure that this is the same.

i had the thing several times with the french version 1.34, stone, so i'm reasoneably sure (and it should be the same for english version anyway). I don't know if it is a (very) minor bug or willingly made though. I suspect the second...

I don't think the level has anything to see with the spell learnt when we use a book... I'm playing with the english version ; I used several spellbooks that were much higher than my level and it gave me the skill expected. Maybe it's not the same with the french version.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />
Yes MG my natural language is french. Do you ask just because of my name or because I made a lot of english mistakes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />? I post in this forum because I use the english version of <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> ( I've read there are differences between the different language versions).

what i'm trying to say is that it is not happening when your level is higher than the recquirement for the spell. I don't think it should be different whatever is the language version (hmm basic programming).

And no it's not really general. i've noted that only for powerful attack spells.

don't worry you can't possibly make more english mistakes than me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/XmasJump.gif" alt="" />... er <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> ...

well, that let the name + the way your sentances are coming out (much more understandable for me than some others.)

I've stumbled over the elemental bolt/-hail issue before in this forum, and it was generally assumed that it was a translation/art work transmission error, that just never got corrected.

Oh - and "Bienvenue, LaFille!" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

@LaFille and GlanceALot
What did you too just say to each other?
I want to hear too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kitty.gif" alt="" />

And I noticed the spellbook problem (in patched up version) when a wizard sold me a spellbook in ars magicana.

@GlanceALot
I don't think anything would happen even if I cut my external ears.

'merci'=thank you. hmm <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />
I saw a movie called Ameili (or was it amili?). Guess I should see it again in my improved knowledge of French.

@Wallace
I think the movie you saw is "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulin" ("Amélie Poulin's fabulous destiny", a cute little story by the way). And "mercie" (pronounced the same as merci) also means the same as in english. Now you can impress people around you with youre great knowledge of french! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

The story was NOT little by any standards. I would put it this way:
It is a lengthy story of a cute little girl. They could have cut down on the childhood part or maybe skipped it.

So mercie means mercy in English. I don't think so. I have heard that Mercie was also a french artist

"mercie" (I'm not absolutely sure it's supposed to be written like that): it is really a specifc context word, but close enough to the english "mercy". As for Mr Mercie, never heard of him... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> Maybe we should move this subjet in the general forum if you want to continue it; this is topic has really hijacked as you said... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />
