Hey guys.
I'm a newbie and I have a couple of questions and a couple of trouble with the game.
The game I have is relatively new (2 month old). So it happens, that - when I enter a new area - the screen is black. I have to save, then to reload - and then it works.

I have seen the patch, that would fix the problem - is it right, that first:
1. This patch exists
2. That it isn't already installed on my computer (cause I found hints about patch 1 and 2 in some folders - but no executable files)
3. Where can I see, which version of the game it is?

And 4. Can I get a CD - cause my modem is that old, that it would take me about 7 hours to load it down <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

It would be great, if anybody could help me...

Thanx a lot [color:"red"] [/color]

Elo

Hello Elorian, and welcome to the Forum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

You can find the Version Number in the Mainscreen, in the right lower Corner of the Screen.

If there stand 1.0034a, you have the newest Version.

You see it also at the Booklet, the older unpatched Full Price Version have the real Booklet, and the Budget Version, wich is allready patched, have only a PDF Dokument with the Booklet on CD.

If your Version is still patched so try to delete all Files in the Folder
"Programms/DivineDivinity/Run/Dynamics", but delete only the Files, not the Folder.

Maybe this will help

I guess I have the budget version of Divine Divinity because it's the one that came with Beyond Divinity.

I didn't know the version was already patched and I am pretty sure it allowed me to patch the game with the latest version. Do you think this will cause any problems? I've been real busy with work and so far I havn't done much with the game other than run around the first town.

Does that sound normal, that it allowed me to patch the game even though it was the latest version?

Elorian;
Do you have your Caps Lock key enabled? That or holding down the Shift key lets you move the screen focus away from the character, but can result in the screen not following the character entering hatches/caves or using ladders/stairs. Normally this means the screen stays at the previous area, rather than being black, though. If you do not have the Caps Lock key enabled, you could try holding down the shift key and bumping the edge of the screen, then releasing the shift key to see if that will recentre the screen on your character (still a pain, but better than save/reload).

Here is a link for the patch, if you need it. There are download managers that can help you get the patch as quickly as possible. Even on a 28.8 modem, it shouldn't take more than a couple hours to get the patch.

Tempo;
Some of the versions of DD that came with BD were already patched, and some were not (presumably they finished off whatever original CDs they had before starting with the updated version).
Re-installing the patch should not cause any problems.

I must have been tired or drinking because I don't remember running the game before the patch. Either way, what was done is done and hopefully every thing will be fine once I play the game some more.

On my game disc it says US2 if that means anything. Thanks for the info.

So does my original release version, in some kind of catalog number (Art.No.CDR7066/US2) listed under the Larian and CDV graphics.

Danke Stone -

das hat geholfen. Ich habe die gepatchte Version.
brigens hat es sich - ohne, da ich etwas getan habe - von selbst wieder repariert, nachdem ich komplett aus dem Spiel ausgestiegen bin...

For everybody:
Thanx - I found out, that I have the latest version, and after completely closing the game, sleeping one night and starting the next day, it worked, as if nothing happened...

So thanx for all the tips and advices...

Have a great night...

Now I know, what the problem was...
The caps-key...

Thanx - I think one of my cats stepped on it... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/kitty.gif" alt="" />
Or it was all alone me, myself and I - but I can't remember when...
(I should stop drinking so much alcohol - its better for learning anyway...)
