Seeing as this board is full of threads, I suppose you've heard of this already. But I'm not going to browse a thousand pages to find the answer!

My problem is:
Normal status: Screen is centred on character.
Shift key: Focus moves with mouse.
Buggy state: Focus moves with mouse, no shift key pressed. No way of recentering.

Also, I tried going down to a dark cave in this state. Screen turned black, I saw objects that didn't seem to exist (couldn't click them). Automap was set to the cave area. I scanned the map with my mouse cursor, and found myself watching Aelroth. Focus had moved to a black area on the worldmap. I couldn't find myself anywhere.

Recently, this bug struck instantly before I saved, and it turns out that the bug is saved with the game. Either that, or it is permanent, and will stay with eventual new games as well (Gods, hope not).

Has this been addressed?
What can be done?
I didn't find this in any of the patches, but I downloaded the most recent one anyway.

This sounds more like Divine Divinity that Beyond Divinity (there are separate forums for each game). Anyway, the 'buggy state' you describe can be caused by having the Caps Lock key enabled; disable it to return to 'normal'. Caps Lock, or holding down the shift key, allows you to move the screen focus away from the character, but also means it will not necessarily follow the character on change of location (ladders, cave entrances, etc).

Thanks. Yeah. I eventually found out myself. I didn't realise there were two different games, thought you were operating with fancy board names...

I found myself thinking: Now what key is it I'll slam if I desperately try to hit shift in a hurry..? There it was.

Thanks again!
