Don't worry, maybe you don't know yet, but you can sell your learned skills later, and get those skillpoints back. That will cost you some money, but you will be swimming in gold coins when you're a little further in the game.

So pick what you need at the moment, keep one or two points untouched (you might need a skill very bad and not have any skillpoints available) and sell and change skills later in the game.

And choosing skills depends on what kind of character you play, wizard, thief or warrior. My two characters are both warriors and I put most of my skillpoints in extra slashing damage, agility, ...

The Restoration-spell (the one that replenishes your health) is also very usefull, as it saves you some precious potions and doesn't cost that much mana. My characters both have that spell.

Alchemyskills are also very usefull, unless you want to run around with those Alchemy Bushes forever.

Just one warning...

There is one skill that you cant unlearn... Summoning dolls. If you want to use summoning dolls (with their upgrade points), then let the DK learn those... you will understand later in the game why...

Skills commonly preferred:

Restoration
Alchemy
lockpick (only works if you have the latest patch 1.47 installed)
poison
convert traps (various ones available... but they all very usefull)
Identify (not only identify;s weapons and items, but also MONSTERS.. showing you resitances, making it easier to kill them)
Weapons specialties of various natures (depending what weapon you have)
Shaman magic - hammer (stuns enemy....)
etc etc etc.

Your existence alone, is excuse enough for the creation of the entire universe… Il you my darling Jeanne-Dré 
