Hi!

I come from Poland (have a Polish version of the game) and have registered here because an answer to my problem was nowhere to be found. Sorry if my question has been already answered somwhere but looking for it in those zillions of billions of threads would take years (I'm not an elf you know). Now, to the point.

I've been playing the game for at least 3 weeks and now it seems I'm stalemated hopelssly. The problem refers to the dwarven council member quest. The mayor of the dwarfen village asks me to bring him a honey jar which can be bought in a tavern somwhere in the village. Well, the only tavern I found is the Rimmer's one but he sells only beer!!!!What is more, when I come back to the mayor he doesn't even ask whether I've brought the alcohol he desires:((I found a Polish solution to the game in the Net and it says I should buy a beer at Rimmer's (even though the mayor asks for something else) and then he will tell me more about the secret plot but he doesn't. And so I cannot finish this quest and move forward.

My question is: do I have to install some patch and if so where can I find it (remember I have a polish version of the game).

PS.1 I would forget: I installed a patch some time ago and so my current version is 1.34

PS.2 I don't think it's a spoiler or a tip (and therefore I haven't marked it as such in the topic) beacuse the solution is known but just doesn't work.

PS.3 Thank you for help!!You'll surely be redeemed:))

I have played Divine Divinity a long time ago and i don't remember that the mayor asked for an honey jar !
He wants some beer from Rimmer.
If you give the beer to him he will tell you the password for the sentry in the dwarven mines.
But if you can't get this password, you just have to go to the dwarven mines and kill the sentry.
It's easy to kill and you will get XP points.

You don't have to look in zillions of billions of threads to find an answer.
Just use the search function.
For exemple you type : "Dwarven council member" in the Divinity Help Section and you will find a lot of answers about this quest.

In fact, you get more experience points for killing the sentry than for giving it the password, so not being able to give the mayor any of Rimmer's ale is no big deal.

You should be able to offer him a drink, then convince him you are friends because you are drinking together, so that he tells you the password. Some people have found that having other types of alcohol in their inventory can prevent the drink offer, one or two said he accepted some other kind of beer, and some had him refuse to recognize any alcohol. I'd just forget the mayor and head to the dwarven mines.

We never have released a Polish version of Divine Divinity...
Divine Divinity has been produced in English, German, French, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese and Japanese, that's all.
So I am a bit surprised that you could install patch 1.34

At first I'd like to thank all of you for your help.

I'd also like to say sorry about writing about Divine Divinity on the Beyond Divinity forum. Obviously my fault, but it was a bit late so forgive me. I think my thread can be moved to the proper category and you may also delete it if you wish 'cause I have nothing against it in fact.

Now about my polish version of the game.
First remark: I've bought an original copy of the game
Second remark: maybe I was not precise enough - in fact only dialogues, names of different items, sign texts and, you know, all the writing has been translated into Polish but for example voices stayed English. So I don't know, maybe it's not a fully Polish version (as I've said) and so the patch could be installed...

Once again thank you very much and of course: have fun!

Don't understand me wrong, I didn't mean it like that, but it's true that we have never released a Polish version of Divine Divinity (there's one on the other hand for Beyond Divinity).

Interesting fact to know that there's one on the market...

Well, as I understand you're working in Larian Studios and you don't know about that Polish relase. Hmm... If you suspect that it could be some kind of a crime (unlicensed release I mean) I could provide you with some more details like for example the text on the packaging, because I know that intelectual property is protected by the law (also in Poland:)))

Let's see then...ah there it is. I'll translate it (at least try..)It's something like this:

CDV Software Entertainment AG. All rights reserved. CDV, CDV logo and Divine Divinity are registered trademarks or trademarks of CDV Software Entertainment AG or Larian Studios in the United States of America and/or in the United Kingdom and/or in other countries. USE AT HOME ONLY. Unlicensed copying, lending (...) is strictly forbidden. (this text is written on each CD-ROM container; I don't know where the box (in which the game was sold)is but I think nothing more is printed there)

I don't know whether it'll help but I'm a bit worried now so...

By polish version do you mean:

1. I bought the game in poland but it has english dialogues
2. I bought the gmae in poland and it has polish dialogues

I think you bought just the uk version but in Poland

My conclusions :

1- It's a pirat version but i don't really think it is because a pirat don't take the time to translate the texts.

2- CDV has made a polish version of the game without informing Larian.

I'd not be surprised if this was the case.

I think that only Lynn can say something about that for sure (without speculation, which IMHO leads to nowhere)
