Larian Studios Forums General Chat Chat (Anything) Very cool shortcut

It takes 3 clicks + some mouse movement to turn off or restart your computer.
It can be done with 1 click if you have XP.

Right click on any blank space of windows desktop -> New -> Shortcut. A “Create Shortcut” window will open.



type in: shutdown.exe -s -t 0

Click “Next”

Type in whatever name you like in the blank. Then, click “Finish”

I've always found it easier to hit the keys Windows, U, U to shutdown (in Windows XP).

Variants on this shortcut include:
1. delayed shutdown--Instead of a "0", type a number, say 5, and your shutdown will be delayed for 5 seconds.
2. restart--Instead of "s", type "r"

In the times of Win 3.1 , I had installed the windows port of the WorkPlace Shell of OS/2. With it came a small shutdown program ...
