Hey...

Up till now ( lvl 25 character), I have been able to get away with no skill points in lockpick. The keys have always been present (somewhere) for any door or chest I wanted to open. Starting with the vampire's door, and now being unable to see how to open a door in the Abbey's first level, I'm having doubts

Is lockpicking something that can't be gone without?

On a related note, are there any skill editing programs available? The pain of spending 4 points on Withering Curse, which I never use, would be compounded further if I knew that those points could have gone towards lockpicking...

No,lockpicking is not a must. You can find armor and charms, rings etc.that will give you that ability.[I,like lockpicking.]Concerning the abbey I think you need to find levers. The 2nd one is very hard to see.Its lost in the shadows on the wall.[Bottom to the right?]As to your last ? there are trainers available to do that.Check posts by Raze,Kiya or DQueen they have links to them.Hope this was helpful and accurate.

THANKS!! Finally saw that stupid lever! Would be great if a patch were released including levers with the ALT key!!!

Are there any locked doors that have no keys, that you are aware of?

There is a quest further on, in the dwarven mines that do require a lockpick skill of 4 i think...there is a locked door that contains something that you need. It is not necessary to do this quest, but does contain some nice stuff!

iZakaroN's SaveEditor

You can get two levels of Lockpick by joining the thieves' guild in Verdistis (one by loosing a bet), but need level 1 of Lockpick and Pickpocket (keep an eye out for items with this skill bonus) to do so.

YAY! Thanks so much guys. I've already gotten a few chests scattered here and there that I couldn't find a key for - nothing big, but very annoying

I downloaded the linked savegame editor and, it's EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Instead of plodding along with the mistakes I made on skills, I went ahead and got rid of 4 points I spent on Curse, and another point I had spent on poisonous cloud (lordy, that spell really let me down )

Thanks again! Now, to learn how to lockpick...
