I have Divine Divinity installed on a new computer that exceeds all its requirements, and it's running on Windows XP- just to get that technical junk outta the way.

My maps don't work. The minimap shows the sprites moving around me, but it doesn't show the background. The large map is basically the same; the flags are there, but the actual map isn't. Right now I have to get through the sewers, so unless I have some way of keeping my bearings, this is gonna be heck.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohh.gif" alt="" />

Try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder.
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.

After that, start a new game, and see if the mini-map and auto-map work there. If so, try loading your latest save. If neither work the problem may be in the game, which a clean reinstall may help (see the link below). If the new game works but the other saves do not, the problem may be something in the save folder (unlikely, I think).

If that doesn't help, try changing the visual quality settings in the game video options (under performance). Someone had a problem during install extracting one of the automap files, but switching the quality setting had the game load a different version of the map (which was ok).

Troubleshooting Tips (& manual install procedure)
