I would suggest the 7800gtx or gt. Seem there was a flaw in the 6800 that makes it imposible to play HD tv or H recordings. Or wait till the next ATI card. (but if youre like me you are a Nvidia fanboy )

The GeForce 7800 GT

compared with the GeForce 6800 and the GeForce 6800 GT

but the 6800 series has a flaw in that it can't operate HD? or just the 6800 not the 6800 GT?

after comparing the Asus GeForce 7800GT with the Asus GeForce 6800GT
for a difference of 20 dollars i assume thats 25 euros :P

you get 2 extra games and 50MHz Engine Clock speed difference for the 7800 GT only for 20 dollars more

is it worth it?

The 6800 has problems playing high definition videos if you don't plan to do that it no big deal. But as you said the 7800gt is a killer card (only surpassed by the 7800GTX.

I would love to say that that card would last a long time but we all know GPU are gestting old fast. Seems that my 6600GT is just slow(compared to 7800) and I bought it 4-5 months ago.

Oh I totally agree the 7800 series leave the 68 for dead, but I didn't think you where asking about that, just what you thought our opinion was of the 68 but if you can afford it go for the 7800 gtx so far ppl are wanting to use that over an Intel Cpu to run servers and that saying something! but if you think about the fact that a Gpu has 24 pipelines that work bi-directional as opposed to a Cpu which actually has to wait for all the info to be sent from a to b before it can return from b to a, well then it all makes sense

I am quite happy w/ my GF 6600 GT, for now.

I think the 7800 GTX is rediculously high in price-- and you are paying for tech' you don't really necessarily need yet, so you do get what you pay for. You pay for being WAY ahead of the game.

I usually only do a upgrade on the vid card when it's a necessity -- when all the modern games I have don't run so great anymore and/or the modern games I want just don't support my card period.
