DD has to top my list.. I don't even consider the Diablo series to be anything remotely RPG.. Just hack'n'slash with a weak story at best.. Diablo games, while pioneering the hack'n'slash genre of "RPG"'s, suffer from a serious lack of character and plot depth, as well as NPC personality.
I remember working hard to buy Diablo 2 back when I was pretty young, and after a while I just wanted my money back. Whereas with DD, I couldn't stop playing, for days on end, and I still play it to this day with a different character setup every time - and its still as fun.
I haven't really played other games like Morrowind, or Baldurs Gate, but even on my list Diablo would be sitting at the bottom, if even on my list at all.
I think the lines between action and RPG have been so hideously blurred since the 90's.. It seems as if people are willing to call anything with stat numbers, skill advancement, and interchangeable equipment, an RPG... Also, as evidenced by the recent trend of "action/RPG's" and MMO"RPG"'s, it seems that people now consider anything to be an RPG, simply because they can say "oh look, you are taking on the role of...."
I dunno... I don't like this trend
