Have any one played LBA 1 or 2??

Little big adventure 2 is an awesome game! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
every body should try it out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
one bad thing: is that it maybe don't work on XP or 2000 only 98 or 95

I have not played Little big adventure 1 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
And i can't find it anywhere!! I don't think that they sell the game in normal game shops... because it's rather old.
Does any one know if/where I can buy it?? (internet)
Or download it, but i never download thinks because i don't have a good dowload program and my firewall is stupid and let almost nothing pass <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />

I simply love LBA2, but given up, because it's far too difficult for me. The difficulty level is imho too high - at least for me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I do have LBA1 (but not played it so far, because of the difficulty level in the demo) - but only by chance. The sad thing is that second-hand shops do have *masses* of strategy ganmes and FPS games, but almost no Adventures !

I interpret this as lovers of adventure games not so easily giving away their treasures ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

That also results in for example Discworld Noir and the longest Journey not being available here - and I've been searching through *many* shops ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

Alrik: I tend to see quite a few old Adventure/RPGs in huge shops actually, including LBA2. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Where to get LBA1?
Well either buy it at Ebay or try Home Of The Underdogs... but don't forget, it's a DOS game. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

If you are ever having trouble with a program that will only work on older windows, and not XP, there is a to fix that.

Windows XP has this feature (don't think older ones do).
Lets take for example your LBA 2 game on a windows XP computer, and its not working well.
To fix it, you must simply:

1. Right-click on the .EXE (or main game file, the one your shortcut will run if you have a shortcut--- probably called 'LittleBigAdventure.exe' or something) then go to the properties. This .EXE file should be in the main folder for your game.

2. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab. There you should see three sub-sections: 'Compatibility mode', 'display settings', and 'imput settings'.

3. In the 'Compatibility mode' section, check the box that says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:'. Under this box, an extendible bar with an arrow on it that says 'Windows 95' will light up.

4. You can now click on that bar, and choose the windows you want to run the program with. If its a program that only works under windows 95, choose windows 95.

That should fix alot of problems with running old programs on new computers. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> Try it out if you like. If my explination needs any clearing up, just say so. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

A little more on subject, what exacly is the game like? What kind of adventure game is it? What would you compare it to? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, I don't have any problems with older games... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Thank you killerzzz, but i got a w98 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> (but it take about 10 mins to start it up <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />)

Or i got LBA 1 on ps-1, but i don't like ps-1 (I hate the controls)

one awesome thing is that to kill an enemy you can cast you "magic ball" on them! (there is NO BLOOD in the game(there are stars instead))
There are 4 magic lvl's i think, first: [color:"yellow"] yellow - [color:"green"] green - [color:"red"]red and [color:"orange"] fire !
To kill a green enemy you have to have at least "green ball".

there are 4 "moods" Normal-sport-aggressive- and discreet mood.
On aggressive mood you can fight whit our hands- and sport mood: you run and can jump.Discreet mood you sneek and can squat(in this mood you throw the ball high: t.ex: if you are hidding bihinde a barrel you throw over it)

3D.it's awesome graphic <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
You can move almost every where (it's not just to follow a path)
on first planet there are two big islans you can go to, and try to find clues and stuffs.(on the first planet you can drive a car) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />(home planet)
on the other planet you can go to five islans and on the moon once too.
it's much clues you got to find and very "ingenious"

If you don't have played it before it can take maybe up to 2,5 weeks if you play all the time. (and don't cheet (look at walk through))

What's: "FPS games" and "DOS game"??

i would compare to "beyond good and evil." even if i don't have finnish it. and maybe less fight in LBA.
But it's a game in it's on calss! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />! it's hard to compare to any other game.

Then there's something wrong with it. Mine's usually needs a few minutes, one or two, but I'm accustomed to it, so I don't bother (or care , anyway). <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I hope this question was not serious ?

Well, FPS = First Person Shooters (aka "Ego-Shooters") and DOS - well, that's what is still lying beneath Win98 ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> Seriously. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Until Win ME. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The Win NT / Win 2000 / XP line is of a differend breed. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Did you try out the setup I mentioned further up?

If so, and it didn't work, than try to find a good DOS emulator. I would recommend DOSbox as its helped me out alot. You can search it on the net.

There is a small descussion of Dos-Emulators here that has a link to a DOSbox site.

And, as I mentionned in this thread about 'Your First RPG', here is a small instruction on how to use DOSbox:

Quote
Here, this is some info I used to learn how to use it.

[color:"yellow"] First, download DOSbox from the DOSbox website at sourceforge.net. Run the file and DOSbox will be installed on your computer. Now go to the folder where you installed DOSbox and run DOSbox, or go to the Windows Start Menu and use the shortcut to start DOSbox. Two windows will open. One is the kernel and the other one is the window you have to type in. It will start on virtual drive Z:\. Because most people don't have a Z:\ disk on his/her computer, you have to go to the drive you installed the game on. Usually this will be the C:\ or D:\ drive. I will use the C:\ drive as an example. First, type "mount c c:\". This will recognize the C:\ disk as the Virtual C:\ disk within DOSbox.

Now type "C:". Guess what, you’re now on your C:\ disk! If you extracted the game called "game.exe" to the folder games\game, you have to browse to there. You can do this by using the cd commands. For example, first type "cd games" and then "cd game". Then you have to start the game. This is simple enough to remember: type "game", without the extension (.exe). The game will then start so you can play it.

The game may run very slow or DOSbox may crash. If DOSbox crashes, it is useless to try again. DOSbox won’t work in this case, but there are more options to allow your games run in Windows XP.

Good luck. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Killerzzz

P.S.: I quoted the whole thing so you wouldn't have to find it in that thread. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
