Yeh, every time i've been on these forums i have forgotten to ask"what does 'hearing' mean in the game? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

I think it's literal... like with good sight, you can see the monsters quicker... and generally, if there's a monster nearby, you cna hear them too. Particularly orcs. However, it doesn't seem very useful...

Hearing is how far you can "hear" the little red and green crosses on the mini-map. It's useful if you want to avoid someone/thing.

Sight and hearing represents your detecting abilities. They are more important for a mage or for a survivor than a warrior. Those green/red spots on your minimap appears quicker if you have good sight. Also you can target monsters afar if you have good sight/hearing by scrolling your screen. (They even won't see you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />)
I also suspect that cut-scenes play from afar if you have high sight/hearing.
However, sight is more important than hearing.
