I remember being told that the castle guards are know to have charms on them. My pick pocket skill is at 4, but the problem is I cant steal from these guys. my games not patched btw. Every time I try to steal form the castle guards I get "pickpocket failed!". Someone please help me on this.

I never used Pickpocket, but I suggest saving the game, putting another skill point into it (assuming you can) and trying again. If that works you just needed the skill maxed, if it doesn't there is something else going on.

I'd also recommend installing the patch.

Always, always, always patch! You'll be much better off with the patch installed.
