I got a level 19 warrior that is doing both pierce and slash damage when I am wielding a knife. Why I am doing slashing damage? Shouldnt I be doing only piercing damage? I got 80 agility and my listed damage is like 199 - 289. My weapon damage is 100 - 170. I got 8 points into accuracy, damage, and critical for daggers w/ shield.

When I attack enemies with low armor I usally see 2 numbers. Around 200 piercing damage and then another 20 or so slashing damage on the same hit. On enemies with high armor I dont see the slashing damage. Where is the slashing damage comming from??

Here's a screenshot:

Hi there
on you screenshot, if you look to the right of your inv, you will notive the following values...

vs. piercing 0 (in this case your weapon is solely responsible for this damage)
vs. crushing 2
vs. slashing 2

You have a factor 2 on slashing, which gives you a bonus when fighting certain monsters, with a lower factor on slashing...

On monsters with a higher factor you dont get that bonus...

Hope this helps <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

If you need a more in depth answer to this, you can download the

Official Strategy guide

They have a much better explanation (complete with all the mathematical equations) in the Math section. From what i quickly read in there, your bonus is based on your agility (when wielding a knife).

Since daggers can be used with a thrusting or slashing motion, it may be that they have a small unlisted component of slashing damage. High armour class opponents resist that weak attack completely, but lower class ones do not.
If so, they are similar to crossbows, which do a little damage based on the weapon type (crushing for normal crossbows) in addition to the damage type determined by the arrow used.

The slashing damage may be a bonus from your stats or the weapon expertise skill (ie thrust in to do most of the damage, and then flick or twist the dagger pulling it out for a little extra). After saving the game, you may want to try unlearning your one handed piercing skill, and see if you still get slashing damage.
It could also be a bug, where you are getting a bonus from a slashing expertise skill that you shouldn't. Try either boosting the damage portion or unlearning other weapon expertise skills, to see if that makes a difference.

Lady_Rain;
The numbers for 'vs. piercing/crushing/slashing' are bonuses to your armour against those specific damage types. I don't think they effect your attacks at all.

Well I tried another dagger and it doesnt have the extra slashing damage. So I think this weapon is bugged because it is the only one I have found so far that does both slashing and piercing.
