I realize I'm a little late to the party having just gotten Beyond Divinity and started playing it, but I'd like to share with those that are interested an alternate control scheme for playing Beyond Divinity.
Some of you may have remembered me a while back when I provided some rudimentary scripts (using Visual DialogScript) to automate certain functions in the Beyond Divinity game.
Anyway I took those scripts and extrapolated from them to create a fully functional program called G-Hotkey (
G-Hotkey web site). As an example of how this can be usefully used in Beyond Divinity I am using it as follows:
- The ability hold down the Ctrl and Alt key in the game by pressing just one key.
In the Beyond Divinity game the Alt key is binded to show objects that can be picked up. Instead of having to hold down this key all the time instead one key can be assinged and pressed just once to hold down the Alt key for me. In the Beyond Divinity game the Ctrl key is binded to attack the nearest enemy. Instead of having to hold down this key all the time during combat one key can be assinged and pressed just once to hold down the Ctrl key for me.- The ability to hold down the left mouse button by pressing just one key.
This is useful if you have a party consisting for example of an Warrior and Survivor - where I always want the Warrior in front of the party to lead the attacks and the Survivor trailing in the back with a bow for ranged attacks. Now I don't have to constantly be holding down the left mouse button and instead can just press a key to simulate the left mouse button being held down. - The ability to click specific mouse coordinates in the game by the press of a key.
This can be used for example to click on the potion icon for a character and then the third potion down (health potion) to renew health. By setting this up as a macro and binding it to a key you don't have to physically move the mouse pointer and click on these icons in the game.I have found this alternate way of controlling Beyond Divinity makes the game movement and combat easier and more enjoyable.
