Apparently, the magic barrier skill is still not fixed in the latest patch(v1.34) -- My warrior now has two items(1 ring + 1 boots) with each +1 to magic barrier skill. When i equipped them for the 1st time, there 'seemed' no problem but when i loaded the game, i realised that my magic barrier skill was still the same as before! SO, i unequipped them and re-equipped in order to ADD the skill, however...... my character's default resistance became -10 !! Worse, i DO NOT have the save game before it. My problem is: Right now, if i unequip those +1 to magic barrier equipments, my character's default resistance WILL drop to -20 further. What should i do now? Please HELP!

P/s: i played this new game AFTER installing v1.34. I'm using a female warrior with Lv 25 and i added 2 skills to magic barrier already. Am i 'punished' for the privilage of using the advantages below my level? [ -->you need Level 34 or more to 'enjoy' Lv 4 magic barrier...]

A couple people have run into problems with Magic Barrier when the levels they learned and bonus levels added up to 5 or more, but I don't recall any issue with bonuses boosting the skill higher than you can learn yourself.

Try using iZakaroN's SaveEditor (or from Kiya's site, with description) to remove the skill points you put into Magic Barrier, then reload that save and see if you can unequip the items without a resistance drop.

You can use the save editor to boost your resistances back to normal. Since the resistance bonus is added when you learn the skill level, you can repeatedly learn and unlearn the skill. Boost Magic Barrier and save, use the save editor to remove the skill points, re-load the save, re-learn the skill and save, and repeat as necessary.

Resistances can also be edited directly, if you are comfortable hex editing. See Some more hex offsets... and also Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor as a reference.

If you wish to get rid of the equipment you have with a Magic Barrier bonus, but don't have anything comparable in quality, you can use DAD's item editor to duplicate their stats (minus the skill bonus) on other equipment.

Thanks a million first of all!
I am able to get my character back to 'normal' with ZERO resistance!
However, I think those items with +1 to magic barrier cannot be used again because when i loaded the game the skill tree showed that my character only has Lv 2 of magic barrier instead of 4. That means when i unequip these items, the resistance will drop again... (sigh)~~ I loaded SO many times for the ring given by Verlat and now cannot use it... well, i guess i might try the item editor.
Anyway, I really appreciate your help!

p/s: now i am TEMPTED to cheat 'a bit' (yes, just a bit) by redistributing my skill points -- By setting my Summon Skeleton or Wizard's Sight skills (I got them by FREQUENTLY patronizing the merchants in Rivertown merchant area!) to zero and adding the skill points to the other 'useful' skills :Ţ

Well, it seems that the item editor cannot be downloaded properly. It stops at 120kb where it supposed to stop at 2.38Mb
I've tried several times but still failed...
Is there an alternative site to download? Or maybe it's because of my slow connection(dial up speed)?

Are you sure you are looking at the right link for the item editor? The download for the latest version 1.4 is just the executable, at 120KB. The full install of version 1.3 is 2.38MB. I just tried downloading both, and did not have any problems.

It sounds like you have downloaded the latest version, so just try running it. If you get an error about missing dll files, download and install version 1.3, then replace the executable with version 1.4.
