I've just come back from the spider realm, and I find the Imp hero bragging to his friends. When the scene ends, I click on the X to close the window, and I can't move, The imps move about, but the upper right icons are gone with the mouse pointer, and my party will not move. Any suggestions?

After reloading your most recent save, leave the DK on the other side of the village and approach the imp 'hero' with just your other character, or exit out of the cutscene conversation early, rather than following it to the end.

What are you? The game creator or something? Anyway, leaving DK on the other side of the village worked...aborting the window didn't. Thanks. While we're talking: I have the mushroom for the farmer, but he won't take it. Next?

Other people discovered those workarounds for the hanging imp hero cutscene; I never had any problems there.

Did you get the "rare mushroom" from the little mushroom forest, north west of the village? Try dropping it on the ground, have your hero pick it up, and talk to the mushroom farmer again.

Do you have any other mushrooms in your inventory? You can get a mushroom from a chest in the mushroom forest south of the village, after defeating the mage guarding it. When eaten, it permanently boosts the luck of both your main characters. Dropping or eating this mushroom, if you have it, may help the mushroom farmer recognize the rare mushroom in your inventory.

Does the imp at ask if you have found the mushroom when you talk to him?

I took the bright red "rare" 'shroom the imp was guarding. I didn't get any others. No, the farmer doesn't ask if I have it. This is why I'm a bit stymied.
Thank you VERY much for all your excellent assistance.

If you move the rare mushroom in your inventory, or drop it, does your quest log icon under the character portraits turn red?

I reloaded my save at that part of the game, and even refusing to accept the quest he would ask if I changed my mind the next time we talked. I tried getting the mushroom before the quest, but that didn't cause any problems. If I talked to him before getting the quest, he always offered it, and afterwards he would ask if I had it (without the mushroom in my inventory he would ask if I found the mushroom yet, while with it in my inventory, he would ask if I found 'my mushroom' yet).

Are you sure you are talking to the 'mushroom farmer'? He disappears sometimes behind his house, and other imps can wander around there.

Do you have the patch installed?

I've installed 1.47 I believe. It was the latest patch available on the website. I've dropped the shroom, had the quest page turn red, picked it up, traded it to the DK, all to no avail. The title of the farmer is "mushroom farmer". I'll keep trying, but it's getting frustrating. One other question; how does one determine the effect of the "charms"... I've charmed several items, and it's difficult to determine the effect of the various colors....especially since they cannot be removed from the item once placed. Same thing with the "crystals in the bag". Thanks again for your patience and help.

What does the mushroom farmer say when you talk to him?

The crystals are named for the resistance they boost, so it should be easy to open the charatcer's inventory and watch the resistance value while you drop a crystal in, or remove one. From small to the largest size, they boost their respective resistance by 2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 points.

charm effects

Also, charms and crystals are both described in a section of the Strategy Guide.
