I was wondering through the wastelands last night, hunting sand demons to kill to alleviate my frustration with my country's political situation, when I started wondering about thee different methods of exchange in DD...
I love the fact that prices are affected by who you are trading with and whether or not they like you, and even by your political affiliations (merchants guild, etc..)....but I think there's room for even more creative realism here...
And the fact that things cost more in the wastelands makes total sense...but, for example.....gems and gold may actually be worth less in the wastelands...I mean, it's a desert....the price for a bottle of water, an orange ... or a beer ... should skyrocket....(I was trying to see if my mage became tired faster while running in the desert in full armour than she did in the cool forest, but couldn't tell..)
(After a hard day of gutting imps, there's nothing the Divine One likes more than to kick back with a cool, refreshing lager...Don't be a sand devil, drink Rimmer's fine brews!)
I also thought it might be neat to be able to respond to the 'poor citizen' inquiry of "Can you magic food out of thin air?" with handing over some of the 30 or so chunks of boar meat in my backpack....charity could earn you favour with a merchant like Blake....or a place to hide if the guards are after you.... very 'Robin Hood'
