What is 'it' (
Strategy Guide?), and how are we suppose to know which door is number 2? Looking at the maps for both maintenance tunnel levels I can make a guess where you mean.
Are you referring to the lower maintenance tunnel level, on the western side, the locked door in the corridor leading east? The lever to open that door is east of the door, meaning you can not reach it until you reach the eastern side a little later in the game.
